The coordinated European action led by the Italian Competition Authority (AGCM) against Activision Blizzard and other companies within the Microsoft group brings renewed attention to an increasingly relevant issue: the transparency of in-game purchasing mechanisms.

Virtual currencies, predefined bundles, dark patterns and parental controls raise significant issues from a consumer protection perspective, particularly where minors are concerned.

For industry operators, compliance therefore requires attention not only to pricing, but also to the way offers and purchasing journeys are designed and presented to users.

Opening an email can involve the processing of personal data too.

Under the Italian Data Protection Authority’s new Guidelines, companies and public bodies are required to review how tracking tools used in email communications operate, what data they collect, and the legal basis for their use.

29 October is an important deadline for bringing ongoing processing activities into compliance. Updating a privacy notice is not enough: organisations must also review their platforms, consent mechanisms, withdrawal options, and technical safeguards.

This is an issue that requires close coordination between privacy, marketing, and IT teams to turn regulatory obligations into effective compliance practices.

This Pink October, we’re coming together in pink to show our support for breast cancer awareness 🎀

A simple gesture, but an important reminder of the value of awareness, early detection and standing together in support of those affected.

13th November 2026 is no longer the final deadline.

The ADM (Italian Customs and State Monopolies Agency) has rescheduled the timeline for compliance with the new Technical Rules, introducing a phased process that spreads verification, certification and technical adaptation activities over time, leading up to the go-live of the new system, set for 15th February 2027, with the aim of ensuring a fully verified and reliable infrastructure for the safety of operations and, consequently, the protection of players.

But what does this mean in practice for the industry?
🔸13th November 2026 → completion of the requirements relating to the systems and components made available by CFSs (Service Provider Licensees);
🔸13th January 2027 → compliance verification for licensees using systems provided by CFSs;
🔸12th February 2027 → completion of the technical and functional verification activities;
🔸15th February 2027 → go-live of the new Licensee System.

This is much more than a simple postponement of a deadline: the new timeline reflects the complexity and technical interdependencies between licensees, CFSs, ODV (Audit Bodies), providers and software houses.

The key challenge will therefore be coordinating the entire ecosystem: the certification of one party may become a technical prerequisite enabling other parties to complete their own compliance process.
