New York, July 2025 — The Libyan Investment Authority (LIA) has asked members of the UN Security Council Committee to support a mechanism for reinvesting its frozen cash assets. The LIA is requesting that these funds be placed in low-risk investments to preserve their value, in line with Resolution 2769 (2025).

وزير النفط والغاز يعقد اجتماعًا مع الوفد الياباني لتعزيز التعاون في مشاريع الطاقة.

عقد وزير النفط والغاز بحكومة الوحدة الوطنية، د. Khalifa Rajab Abdulsadek, PhD، اجتماعًا مع وفد ياباني رفيع المستوى ضم السيد موري هيرويكي من الهيئة اليابانية للمعادن والطاقة والأمان الصناعي (JOGMEC)، والسيد واكودا هاجيمي من وزارة الاقتصاد والتجارة والصناعة (METI)، وسعادة السفير إيواما كيمينوري، سفير اليابان لدى النمسا.

وتناول الاجتماع بحث فرص إعادة انخراط الشركات اليابانية في قطاع النفط والغاز الليبي، في ضوء الشراكة التاريخية الناجحة بين البلدين، والتقدم المحرز من قبل حكومة الوحدة الوطنية في تهيئة بيئة عمل جاذبة وآمنة للشركات الدولية، لا سيما مع الجهود الجادة من وزارة النفط والغاز والمؤسسة الوطنية للنفط نحو تحقيق هدف "صفر حرق غاز" بحلول عام 2030، وتحديث التقنيات المستخدمة في إدارة الحقول النفطية.

استقبل رئيس مجلس إدارة المؤسسة الوطنية للنفط الليبية اليوم السيد ريتشارد وارد، نائب الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة ويذرفورد إنترناشونال، في مقر المؤسسة الرئيسي بطرابلس. ومثّل هذا الاجتماع إنجازًا هامًا، حيث أعلنت ويذرفورد، الشركة الرائدة في خدمات حقول النفط ومقرها الولايات المتحدة، رسميًا عن استئناف عملياتها في ليبيا بعد توقف دام أكثر من عشر سنوات.

وأكد السيد وارد التزام ويذرفورد الراسخ بإعادة الانخراط في قطاع الطاقة الليبي، معربًا عن استعداد الشركة لتقديم الخدمات اللوجستية و الفنية للحقول النفطية ودعم الشركات النفط الليبية. وأكد أن ويذرفورد على أتم الاستعداد للمساهمة في تنشيط وتطوير البنية التحتية للنفط والغاز في ليبيا.

خلال الاجتماع، أكد السيد وارد أن ويذرفورد قد أعادت بنجاح تأسيس وجودها التشغيلي من خلال مقرها الرئيسي الذي تم افتتاحه حديثًا في حي الأندلس بطرابلس. علاوة على ذلك، بدأت الشركة بالفعل عملياتها الميدانية من موقعها في حقل جالو 59، مما يؤكد جاهزيتها التشغيلية والتزامها طويل الأمد تجاه السوق الليبية. و قد رحّب رئيس مجلس إدارة المؤسسة الوطنية للنفط بعودة ويذرفورد، مشددًا على أهمية الشراكات الدولية في دعم الخطط الاستراتيجية لليبيا لتعزيز إنتاج النفط وقدرات قطاع الطاقة.

The Chairman of Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) today received Mr. Richard Ward, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Weatherford International, at the NOC’s headquarters in Tripoli. This meeting marked a significant milestone as Weatherford, a leading U.S.-based oilfield services company, formally announced the resumption of its operations in Libya after a suspension of more than ten years.

Mr. Ward conveyed Weatherford’s strong commitment to re-engaging with the Libyan energy sector, expressing the company’s readiness to provide advanced oilfield services and technical support to Libyan oil companies. He emphasized that Weatherford is fully prepared to contribute to the revitalization and development of Libya’s oil and gas infrastructure.

During the meeting, Mr. Ward confirmed that Weatherford has successfully re-established its operational presence through a newly inaugurated headquarters located in the Hay Al-Andalus district of Tripoli. Furthermore, the company has already begun field operations from its site at the Jalu 59 field, underscoring its operational readiness and long-term dedication to the Libyan market.

The NOC Chairman welcomed Weatherford’s return, highlighting the importance of international partnerships in supporting Libya’s strategic plans to enhance oil production and energy sector capabilities
