Tumi Law Firm and our Founder and Managing Director, Dr. Mohamed Tumi are honoured to have had a meeting with His Excellency Ambassador Charles Saliba of Malta earlier today. The discussion mainly concentrated on commercial transactions between Libya and Malta as well as the evolving legal environment in Libya in terms of various recent legislation in corporate law, immigration and the law regarding the registration of branches managed by foreign companies.

TLF, with great pleasure has been rendering legal services to the Embassy of Malta and many Maltese businesses. We absolutely look forward to continuing to provide accurate legal advice to our Maltese friends.

Recent news has revealed that international airliners are interested to start operating flights to Libya in the near future. The Civil Aviation Authority has concluded a series of meetings with a Turkish delegation involving the primary airports of Libya in terms of the standards of their readiness, safety, and security. The Turkish audit team was satisfied with the standard of compliance with international aviation standards. In terms of compliance with international standards and controls for aviation safety, the Civil Aviation Authority has also announced expanded training programs and tools for Libyan airports to utilise. The training courses include a digital transformation program working to improve the efficiency and readiness of Libya’s primary airports. With improved, more efficient airports welcoming international airliners, Libya will attract greater investments, new branches of international businesses, and further economic growth.
A move could potentially present the welcoming of other international aviation companies to take part in transportation to and from Libya which would eventually result in a positive impact on the Libyan economy and the ease of transportation to Libyan individuals, companies, and investors.

كشفت الأخبار الأخيرة أن خطوط الطيران الدولية مهتمة ببدء تسيير رحلات إلى ليبيا في المستقبل القريب.
اختتمت هيئة الطيران المدني سلسلة من الاجتماعات مع وفد تركي يضم المطارات الرئيسية في ليبيا من حيث معايير جاهزيتها وسلامتها وأمنها.
وأعرب فريق مراجعة الحسابات التركي عن ارتياحه لمعايير الامتثال لمعايير الطيران الدولية. فيما يتعلق بالامتثال للمعايير والضوابط الدولية لسلامة الطيران، و أعلنت هيئة الطيران المدني أيضًا عن برامج وأدوات تدريبية موسعة للمطارات الليبية لاستخدامها، وتشمل الدورات التدريبية برنامج تحول رقمي يعمل على تحسين كفاءة وجاهزية المطارات الرئيسية في ليبيا، مع تحسين المطارات وزيادة كفاءتها التي تستقبل الطائرات الدولية، ستجذب ليبيا استثمارات أكبر وفروعًا جديدة للشركات الدولية والمزيد من النمو الاقتصادي.
من المحتمل أن تمثل هذه الخطوة تمهيدا لشركات الطيران الدولية الأخرى للمشاركة في النقل من وإلى ليبيا مما سيؤدي في النهاية إلى تأثير إيجابي على الاقتصاد الليبي وسهولة النقل للأفراد والشركات والمستثمرين الليبيين.

''Direct instructions to Chinese companies to return to work in Libya, and aid in the starting point of reconstruction in the country,'' Chinese President Xi Jinping promised.
The promise was made during the involvement of Libyan Deputy Presidential Council chairman, Musa Koni, in the 15th BRICS summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa. Koni met with Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the 76-nation summit and participated in a special African-Chinese cooperation session.

تم تقديم الوعد خلال مشاركة نائب رئيس المجلس الرئاسي الليبي، موسى كوني، في قمة البريكس الخامسة عشرة التي عقدت في جوهانسبرج، جنوب إفريقيا. التقى كوني مع شي جين بينغ في القمة التي تضم 76 دولة وشارك في جلسة تعاون أفريقية صينية خاصة.

A guide that can simplify to you the first steps for foreign investors in Libya.

Tumi Law Firm is pleased to announce its contribution towards drafting the Global Mergers & Acquisitions Guide by the EPS: Global Legal Guides.
The guide aims to assist foreign companies interested in the Libyan market.
First, the guide has the potential to provide foreign companies a major help, starting with the applicable law to the companies, and the most common types of companies in Libya.
Second, after addressing the related matters to companies the guide also covered the field of foreign investment.
Third, the guide expanded its concerns to cover the matter of corporate governance in Libya, which we addressed in detail as shown in the guide.
Fourth, the guide covered the matter related to Shareholder rights, regarding the privileges granted to the shareholder.
Fifth, regarding acquisitions, the guide questioned which methods are commonly used to acquire a company in Libya, adding to it the advantages and disadvantages of a share purchase as opposed to other methods. Moreover, the guide discussed other matters that fall into the acquisition field. Finally, regarding Enforceability, the guide did not miss the matters related to enforceability, it extended to cover up matters related to enforceability as well.
The contribution to this guide is valuable for our firm, as it simplifies the Libyan law for foreign investors, by giving them a general idea regarding the Libyan jurisdiction, which could eventually lead towards positive results for the Libyan economy.
