LERATONG COMMUNITY OUTREACH ❤️🌞

Each year, the NUL Students' Litigation Club, together with our first-year law students, carries forward a beautiful tradition of giving back—this time at Leratong Community Centre. 🤍

With a shared commitment to serving the community, this initiative focused on supporting children—the future leaders in the making. The team contributed essential items to assist the centre, but more importantly, they poured their hearts into connecting with the children, sharing moments of joy, warmth, and genuine care.

In the true spirit of the law, the students also empowered the children with knowledge of their rights, drawing from the Children’s Protection and Welfare Act (CPWA) and the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child—reminding them that their voices matter, their dignity is protected, and their futures are worth fighting for.

We extend our warmest gratitude to Leratong Community Centre, 'M'e Tina for opening their doors to us with such warmth, and for allowing us to share in their space, their joy, and their beautiful community. 🤍

This outreach stands as a testament to a truth: that the law is not only found in books and courtrooms, but in acts of kindness, in service, and in the courage to uplift and empower our communities. 🌱⚖️

MOOT TRIAL SESSION | FAMILY LAW ⚖️🤱🏽

Last Thursday, the NUL Students’ Litigation Club hosted an introductory Moot Trial Session for our first-year law students — and it was a powerful start.

Representing the Applicant were Thuto Maqeba and Lintle Molapo while Likhabiso Nkhapetla and Kometsi Sesing appeared in behalf of the Respondents. The teams tackled a dynamic Family Law problem dealing with marriage in community of property, spousal consent, suretyship, custody, and maintenance.

Beyond the legal issues, participants stepped into the courtroom space to build confidence, sharpen their research and writing skills, and refine their oral advocacy. This was the essence of the session.

For many, it was their very first time presenting arguments before a panel, and they truly rose to the occasion with courage and conviction.

This is what the Litigation Club stands for: practical exposure, advocacy excellence, and preparing future litigators beyond the classroom.

And trust, this is only the beginning. More sessions like this are coming. ⚖️??

NUL STUDENTS' LITIGATION CLUB — SECOND SEMESTER IN MOTION. ⚖️🔥

After mastering the fundamentals of civil proceedings last semester, we've now transitioned into criminal proceedings, thereby exploring the essential elements of arrest, bail, trial processes and the strategy behind criminal litigation in Lesotho. Delivering our first lecture was our very own Vice SG, Ms Chikondi Kakhobwe, a 4th year law student with great interest and growing expertise in Criminal Law.

From pleadings last semester, to prosecution this semester, we're continually refining well-rounded litigators of the law.

Which now brings us to an important ANNOUNCEMENT: the NULSLC invites you all to an internal family law moot court session next week Thursday, 19th February 2026. This session is purposed to advance and refine advocacy skills of law students, improve analytical and critical thinking skills which are all fundamental skills in the legal fraternity.

More details on the FAMILY LAW MOOT SESSION shall be availed to everyone wishing to attend.

Let's connect!!

Ending Gender Based Violence.⚖️❤️‍🩹

The Litigation Club was honoured to receive an invitation from Nairasha Legal Support to participate in a powerful and timely debate on whether stronger legal frameworks or transformations in social norms offer the best solutions to ending Gender-Based Violence.

Our members engaged passionately, drawing on legal perspective, social norms, and lived Basotho community realities. The conversation highlighted that while the law remains a crucial foundation, meaningful and lasting change requires a society that embraces and upholds those legal protections.

At the heart of this debate was a shared understanding that ending GBV demands both strong laws and transformed social norms working together.

We extend our gratitude to Nairasha Legal Support for creating this an impactful, fostering transformative conversations. Together, let's continue to grow and commit ourselves to a future where every person can live free from violence and fear. The future is now.

We are truly mighty when we serve, when we protect not only the law, but the societies in which we live.⚖️🌟

NULPHA v NULSLC Debate Clash Recap.🚨🔥

On the 7th of October 2025, the NUL Philosophy Association and NUL Students' Litigation Club went head to head in a debate clash which turned to be a truly thought provoking and engaging debate.

Although the victory went to NULPHA as proposition to the motion, we remain incredibly proud of our representatives — Tholoana Monatsi, Kamoho Rapotsane and Ponts’o Moseme — for their courage, clarity, and commitment on the stage. Every argument delivered, every rebuttal raised, and every point of information handled showcased the spirit of critical thinking and legal curiosity that defines our club and the legal fraternity in its entirety.

This clash was more than a competition — it was a space for growth, learning, and academic partnership. A space for curating inter-association relations. We extend our utmost appreciation to NULPHA for the challenge and to all students who came out to support the teams.

Here’s to sharper arguments, stronger teams, and even bigger stages ahead.
NULSLC remains committed to excellence — we rise, we learn, we return.⚖️

WE'RE MIGHTY WHEN WE PROTECT THE LAW WITH INTEGRITY.

NUL Students’ Litigation Club at the African Youth Congress – Lesotho Panel Discussion 🇿🇼🌍

In commemoration of SADC Anti-Sanctions Day, on the 25th October 2025, the NUL Students’ Litigation Club proudly participated in a panel discussion hosted by the African Youth Congress – Lesotho, focusing on the sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the EU and the US following the land reform program.

Our members — Ms. Reabetsoe Ts’olo, Ms. Thakane Mofelehetsi, and Mr. Phomotso Lephoi (Vice President) — served as insightful panelists, while our Public Relations Officer, Ms. Reitumetse Mathatjane, co-moderated the session.

The dialogue explored the legal, political, and humanitarian aspects of the sanctions, emphasizing SADC’s collective stance and the need for African solidarity in defending sovereignty and regional cooperation. We are stronger when united!!!

This engagement not only showcased our members’ intellectual excellence, but also strengthened the club’s visibility and role in advancing youth-led regional dialogue and legal awareness. Thus, fulfilling the main mandate of being a student-led community aiming to partake in youth empowering initiatives, particularly in the legal field.

A special appreciation to the African Youth Congress – Lesotho for the invitation and collaboration as well as all the associations which we engaged with.
