UAF Wins 1st Place in National Vision Plan Competition 🏆🇱🇷

We are proud and excited to announce that Upskill Africa Foundation (UAF) emerged 1st Place in the National Vision Plan Competition hosted by Project Change International during the Change Makers Conference, held August 11–14, 2026.

UAF was represented by our Executive Director, Chris Nen Torbor, and Finance Assistant, John Munyeneh, who proudly presented our vision and commitment to creating sustainable solutions for vulnerable families and children.

🏆 Our winning project: Household Empowerment Project (HEP)

Through HEP, UAF will empower parents and caregivers of identified Out-of-School Children (OOSC) with practical livelihood and income-generating opportunities. The goal is to help families strengthen their economic capacity so they can better support their children's education, enrollment, and continued retention in school.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Project Change International for creating this incredible platform, investing in changemakers, and giving us the opportunity to present a solution to a challenge that continues to affect many children and families in Liberia.

We also celebrate the lessons, teamwork, connections, shared experiences, and inspiration gained throughout the Change Makers Conference.

This victory is not just a prize, it is a renewed commitment to making sure no child is left behind in education.

The No Invisible Child (NIC) Initiative is gradually making progress toward the 2026/2027 academic year.

Following our impactful kick-off workshop, we did not just discuss the challenges—we are taking action for underprivileged children who are out of school.

Our mission is clear: Identify. Advocate. Support. Teach. Reintegrate.

Through these actions, we are committed to reducing the number of out-of-school children in Liberia and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and achieve their full potential.

No child should be invisible. Every child deserves an education.

A New Chapter Begins for the No Invisible Child (NIC) Initiative
On Saturday, July 11, 2026, we proudly hosted the Kick-off Workshop for the No Invisible Child (NIC) Initiative, bringing together seven organizations united by a shared commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind in education.

The workshop featured strategic dialogue and insightful presentations from experienced leaders across participating organizations. Upskill Africa Foundation introduced the NIC Initiative and its implementation framework, while technical sessions strengthened participants' knowledge on effective implementation strategies, the role of education in promoting peace and economic development, safeguarding and referral pathways, and mental health considerations and referrals.

The No Invisible Child (NIC) Initiative is a community-based, scalable program designed to:
• Identify every out-of-school child in communities.
• Understand and document each child's unique story and barriers to education.
• Advocate for equitable access to education.
• Provide regular informal learning sessions to keep children engaged while resources are mobilized for their successful reintegration into formal education.
• Reintegrate and monitor attendance and programs that support retentions

As a demonstration of commitment to this shared mission, six of the participating organizations had officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate in implementing the initiative.
- LYFT Africa
- GPBNet International
- Community Health Diagnostic and Awareness Initiative - CHDAI
- Year Liberia
- Empowerment Wave Network
- African Youth Union Division Liberia

With this milestone achieved, we are excited to officially begin implementation.

The NIC Initiative seeks to generate accurate, community-level data on out-of-school children. By working alongside the Government of Liberia and existing education partners, we aim to strengthen ongoing efforts to reduce the country's out-of-school crisis and ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.
Together, we are making every child visible.
