The LSU had a discussion with the Administration regarding the prevailing adverse weather conditions and expected thunderstorms affecting several parts of the country.

The responses received were positive, including discussions regarding conducting hybrid lectures and necessary measures concerning the examinations if the weather situation worsens. We will continue to keep students updated regarding any further developments. We also kindly request students to inform the LSU if any hardships are currently being faced due to the situation.

Restoration of Water Filter Facility

We are pleased to inform you that the water filter located near the Main Hall at Sri Lanka Law College, which had previously become unusable due to internal issues, has now been restored to functionality.

Following the issue being brought to the attention of the Law Students’ Union, the necessary maintenance was promptly undertaken on the 24th of April, including the replacement of the spun filter.

The unit is now usable once again for the benefit of all students. We remain committed towards the betterment of student welfare and towards creating a better and healthy environment for all students.

Today, the Law Students' Union submitted a report to the Principal advocating for a fairer examination system to replace the current punitive policy of forcing students to repeat all eight subjects after failing just one.

To address the severe impacts on student mental health, academic progress, and finances, the report proposes four core reforms: allowing subject-specific resitting instead of blanket retakes, reinstating Subject Written Tests (SWT) and General Written Tests (GWT) as safeguards for borderline cases, reintroducing a viva voce to holistically evaluate marginal failures, and implementing transparent marking schemes that are accessible to students.

Update on the Fumigation for Effective Mosquito Control

Please be informed that fumigation for effective mosquito control was successfully carried out on Monday, 20th April, within the college premises, ahead of the commencement of lectures for the 2nd term. This was carried out to ensure that the college begins the new term in a clean and healthy environment, by minimizing the risk of mosquito-borne diseases and maintaining proper sanitation within the premises.

We also wish to inform that this has been carried out on a monthly basis during the first term, with fumigation conducted on the 8th of February, 13th of March, and 20th of April.
