225 Years of Justice! ⚖️

The Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, established on 18th April 1801 through the Royal Charter of Justice, proudly marks 225 years of serving justice in Sri Lanka.

To commemorate this historic milestone, a Ceremonial Sitting of the Supreme Court will be held today.

"But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream."
(Holy Bible - Amos 5:24)

yena atthaṃ sahasā naye tena dhammaṭṭho na hoti
paṇḍito yo ca atthaṃ ca anatthaṃ ca ubho niccheyya

_Whoever judges hastily does Dhamma not uphold, a wise one should investigate truth and untruth both._
(Dhammapadaya verse 256)

"If justice, failing not, its quality maintain, Giving to each his due, —'tis man's one highest gain."
(Tirukkuṟaḷ verse 111)

"O you who believe, stand up as witnesses in all fairness and do not let the hatred of a people deviate you from justice. Be just: This is closest to piety, and beware of God. Surely God is aware of all you do.”
(Qu'ran - Surah Al-Ma’idah, 5:8)

⚠️ Cryptocurrency Investments in Sri Lanka – Know the Legal Position

With the growing popularity of cryptocurrency, many individuals are being attracted by promises of quick and guaranteed profits. However, investors should be aware of the legal and regulatory position in Sri Lanka.

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has repeatedly warned the public that cryptocurrencies are not recognized as legal tender in Sri Lanka, are unregulated investment instruments, and do not have regulatory safeguards under Sri Lankan law.

CBSL has also stated that it has not licensed or authorized any person or entity to operate cryptocurrency-related investment schemes, exchanges, or advisory services in Sri Lanka.

⚖️ Before investing, remember:

• Cryptocurrency is not recognized as legal tender in Sri Lanka.
• There is no specific regulatory framework governing cryptocurrency investments.
• Investors may have limited legal or regulatory protection if they become victims of fraud or financial scams.
• Be cautious of anyone promising "Guaranteed Returns" or "Risk-Free Investments." These are common warning signs of investment fraud.

Protect your hard-earned money. Always verify before you invest and seek independent legal advice where necessary.
