Happy International Blue Iguana Day!
We’re thrilled to celebrate new hope for one of the world’s rarest reptiles as the next generation of Grand Cayman Blue Iguanas is officially on the way. Following a successful breeding season, Lady Pop, nearing an incredible 37 years old, was paired with our very own Iggy Stardust and has since laid 22 eggs, with hatchlings expected in just a few months.
This marks 23 years of our long‑standing support of the National Trust’s Blue Iguana Conservation Programme, helping the wild population recover from just a few dozen to more than 1,200 today. We’re especially delighted to be connected to Iggy Stardust, a proven contributor to the programme’s success, and to share this story through our plush mascot Iggy, who helps spread awareness in the Cayman Islands and around the globe.
Together with the National Trust for the Cayman Islands and the Cayman community, we remain committed to protecting this iconic species.
