It truly feels like a small world. When I learned that Ippei—whom I studied with in the U.S. six years ago—would be attending the international academic conference here in Busan, we arranged to meet. We caught up last night over drinks at the lounge beneath the hotel, sharing updates about our lives. We also talked about our Japanese friends who are now established mid-career lawyers, as well as a friend who is currently in Mexico. I gave a presentation at an academic conference on the safety of multi-unit housing and related criminal issues.
There were candid discussions about the need for improvements in laws such as the Multi-Unit Housing Management Act and the Security Services Act, as well as debates on conflicting legislative proposals.
It was a valuable learning experience for me as well.

This season is inevitably coming to an early end. It’s a shame that the last night ski was shrouded in thick fog, but looking at the slope where I couldn't see a step ahead, I found myself making an unexpected resolution to stay more alert and work harder this year. I attended the 2025 CES event held in Las Vegas. This time, the city of Busan had a special booth set up to support companies based in Busan. As the pace of scientific and technological advancements seems to be accelerating every day, I felt a mix of excitement and a bit of apprehension. It was also great to see so many new Korean startups making impressive strides. On top of that, revisiting Las Vegas after a while was a wonderful experience filled with plenty of entertainment and delicious food. I truly had a fantastic time!

Our office held a workshop in Osaka, Japan, to mark the end of the year. I attended for just one day due to another academic commitment, but I think it was a great time spent with the team after a long while. Next year, the Busan office of Siwoo Law Firm will achieve even greater growth.

I was invited to attend the 3rd Northeast Asia International Commercial Dispute Resolution Summit held in Qingdao, China. Through this event, I was able to observe China's significant role in the field of international arbitration and its strong commitment to promoting international arbitration. Additionally, starting in November, South Koreans can visit China without a visa. I look forward to increased visits to China and the further activation of exchanges between the two countries.
