Hotel cleaner who stole s***m from a used condom wins a child support battle

A 40-year-old Las Vegas hotel cleaner won a child support battle against a 28-year-old millionaire who she never slept with.

Jane was 36 when she stole a used condom from a then 24-year-old tech millionaire’s hotel garbage can.

She inserted the s***ms inside her va**na and became pregnant with a baby boy who is now 4-years-old.

During the child support hearing, Jane confessed that she never slept with the young millionaire and that she impregnated herself with his s***m while she was cleaning his room.

“He left his bank statement on the nightstand in his hotel room and I saw it when I was cleaning, at the time I wanted a baby so bad and I thought it would be better if I had a baby with a rich man”

The paternity test where conducted and the young millionaire is the father. The court ordered him to pay the mother of the child $2 million for the 3 years of his son’s life he missed.

His lawyer says his client is planning to pursue other legal actions against the mother for stealing is personal belongings and violating his privacy.

Meanwhile, Jane had quit the hotel cleaning job and started a few businesses with her newfound fortune, she still has full custody of her child whom she named after his father.

Waiver of diplomatic immunity

UK says diplomatic immunity for US suspect in teen's death 'no longer pertinent'
By Amy Woodyatt and Martin Goillandeau, CNN
Updated 4 hours ago Oct 13, 2019
London (CNN) - The diplomatic immunity of the wife of an American diplomat who is the suspect in a fatal traffic collision that killed a British teenager "is no longer pertinent," the UK Foreign Secretary said Sunday.
Anne Sacoolas, the wife of a US diplomat in Britain, allegedly struck and killed 19-year-old Harry Dunn, in August while driving on the wrong side of the road.
Sacoolas was originally cooperating in the case, police have said, but she left the country despite assuring them she would remain in the UK.
"The US have now informed us that they too consider that immunity is no longer pertinent," UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said in a letter written to Dunn's family.
"We have pressed strongly for a waiver of immunity, so that justice can be done ... Whilst the US government has steadfastly declined to give that waiver, that is not the end of the matter," Raab said in the letter seen by CNN.
The Foreign Secretary continued that "the UK government's position is that immunity, and therefore any question of waiver, is no longer relevant in Mrs. Sacoolas' case, because she has returned home," he wrote.
This could provide an opportunity for UK authorities to commence legal action with a view to extraditing Sacoolas back to the UK to face prosecution.
A Foreign Office spokesman told the PA news agency that the office would not comment further on the content of the letter.
UK Home Secretary Priti Patel, appearing on the BBC's "The Andrew Marr Show" twice avoided directly answering the question of whether she thought Sacoolas should be extradited to the UK.
"The Foreign Secretary has been working with his American counterparts and has been in touch with the US administration on this. It very much seems that the lady in question wants to start cooperating with the discussions and the investigations and we should support that," Patel said.
"We need to ensure that justice is done but obviously that cooperation with this investigation takes place. That is absolutely right. We owe that to the family and obviously this is a terribly tragic case," Patel said when asked if she thought Sacoolas should be extradited to the UK.
The development comes as Harry Dunn's parents have appealed to US President Donald Trump to intervene, and called on authorities to waive Sacoolas' diplomatic immunity.
Sacoolas' lawyer has reached out to Radd Seiger, the victim's family spokesman, to discuss setting up an "initial" meeting between lawyers in the coming weeks, Seiger told CNN.
Seiger, also a lawyer, told CNN correspondent Anna Stewart that he is currently in the US capital where he is trying to meet US politicians.
Separately, Sacoolas's lawyer has said that Anne Sacoolas "would like to meet with Mr Dunn's parents so that she can express her deepest sympathies and apologies for this tragic accident," PA Media has reported.

A WORRYING TREND...IRA ..OVER TO YOU!!

Insurance firms Invesco Assurance and Africa Merchant Assurance Company (Amaco) closed the year with the highest cases of customer complaints, sector statistics show, citing delayed settlement as a major concern.

Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) says it received 2,233 complaints last year compared with 2,126 registered the previous year with many customers citing frustration over the delayed settlement of claims by the insurers.

General insurers were the major culprits, accounting for 74 per cent of the complaints whereas 26 per cent were made against long term insurers.

Invesco and Amaco had 181 and 155 cases respectively, making them the insurers with the highest number of customer complaints in the sector with 54 firms.

The two are majorly into the insurance of public, private and commercial vehicles.

Last year, 99 per cent of Invesco’s Sh1.53 billion premiums came from insuring vehicles while for Amaco, 62.6 per cent of its Sh2.17 billion premiums were also from these classes of insurance.

The IRA settlement report for the second quarter of 2019 shows unsettled claims for the two insurers were piling up.

Invesco closed June with 4,787 outstanding claims, having settled only 304 during the period.

Those of Amaco piled to 1,705, having settled 169 during the quarter.

Also with complaints above 100 were Kenya Orient and Monarch with 151 and 104 cases respectively.

Pioneer, Resolution, ICEA and AAR had the least number of customer complaints.

“The authority receives and handles complaints lodged against insurers by policyholders and beneficiaries — the complaints comprised of delayed settlement, declined claims, erroneous deductions and unsatisfactory compensation,” the IRA said.

Of the total industry complaints, 1,304 relates to delayed compensation while 469 were due to insurers declining to settle the claim.

A further 218 were due to erroneous deductions while 189 were on customers not satisfied with the amount of compensation awarded.

The IRA statistics further show that general insurers are lagging in resolving customer issues.

TIME TO ENHANCE USE OF TECHNOLOGY IN COURT PROCESSES

I advocate for changes in civil procedure and court rules, to allow service of hearing/mention notices/letters between parties to suits to be effected by e-mail. Scanned hearing notices and scanned applications, soft copies of authorities, etc. should suffice.

For this procedure to succeed, every party to a suit must give an e-mail address of service on filing the first document in court. The rules should provide that service by email made after 4pm is deemed to be served on the following working day at 8am. In all other cases, receipt of the notice or correspondence should be deemed to be instantaneous. As we await to amend the procedures, where parties to a suit file or record a consent in court allowing service by email as between them, then such service should be allowed.

Service of summons and any other document originating a suit should, however, continue to be effected as before.

In all cases, an affidavit of service, on which it is attached the email communication or attachment, should be filed as evidence of service.

As a matter of practice, letters sent by email should be sufficient mode of correspondence. I do not understand why a lawyer acknowledges the receipt of a scanned copy of a letter by email then adds that "we now await receipt of the hard copy". This is a waste of time and resources.

Finally, transcription, which is well-entrenched in some of the Western countries, should be used in court proceedings to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

A new client had just come in to see a famous lawyer.
"Can you tell me how much you charge?", said the client.
"Of course", the lawyer replied, "I charge $200 to answer three questions!"
"Well that's a bit steep, isn't it?"
"Yes it is", said the lawyer, "And what's your third question?"
