Application for Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage
This is a certificate issued by the Office of the Registrar of Marriages confirming that a Kenyan national has no existing marriage record hence competent to get married outside the country. An application for this certificate has to undergo a mandatory 10 days display at the nearest Registrars office dependent on the Applicants last place of residence.
Requirements:
Submit an online application
Upload the following documents:
Applicant's passport
Applicant's recent color passport photo
Applicant's Birth Certificate
Fiancée’s passport
Death Certificate (if widow or widower)
Divorce Decree Absolute (If the Applicant had been married before and divorced)
Sworn affidavit if the Death Certificate or Divorce Decree is more than two (2) years
For Kenyans residing abroad , you are required to upload certified copies of the above documents.
Certification can be done by Kenyan Missions and Embassies or a Notary Public abroad.
For Kenyans in Kenya whose Fiancée is abroad you will be required to upload a certified copy of your Fiancée’s passport.
Applicants residing in Kenya shall be required to submit originals of your passport, birth certificate and original certified copy of your Fiancée’s passport (original Fiancée’s passport if in kenya).
The certificate of no impediment to marriage is valid for 6 months from the date of issue.
Upon approval, Applicant is to be notified to pay a fee of Kshs. 10,050/= on the eCitizen platform
