SAUTI KUBWA

SAUTI KUBWA SAUTI KUBWA KIBERA is a Community Based organization that serves the world to make it better. We strive to make the youth gain from their sweat.

1.

SAUTI KUBWA is a registered community based organization (CBO), we aim at increasing platforms for all sorts of talents (arts and sports) and special skills. The Background and origin of SAUTI KUBWA. A group of 4 talented artists had gone for more than 8 months of practice without getting a platform to perform their music; and more than 4 years without any pay after struggling to get few platforms

to show case the supper talent possessed. After getting demoralized, the music (rap) group BLACK ALBINOZ from Kibera slums sat down to brain storm on what should be done to save lives and talents of the desperate youth, lives and talents that is going for a waste after unseen frustration. Where gifted youth end up losing their lives in crime (shot down), prostitution (contracting STIs -sexually transmitted infections) and doing drugs(addiction) as options following poor management of talent and special skills
This is the observation of the rap artists whose slogan is to address issues affecting the slum community and that of the marginalized people in the society. THE PERSPECTIVE
When in primary level of education, kids identifies their talents; they easily develop them because the rest of their needs are parents or guardians responsibilities. But when one becomes a teenager and approaches the age of 17years, challenges come in. Mostly the teens are in their high school education level. Unlike pupils in primary school, a teenager in Kibera and other slums in Nairobi, sleep away from their parents single rooms. This makes them subject to peer pressure as their friends in e.g. the football team, art group etc. Come with all sorts’ ideas to explore. This is the beginning of everything;
Many youths who are talented in Kibera and other slums end up perishing, after indulging into drugs, crimes like robbery and prostitution. Why does this happen? It is because of many reasons; one of them being that unemployment forces them to explore talents for hopes of succeeding, yet their supper talents are not properly managed. The footballers want to live the lifestyles of European players they watch on DSTV yet they have no income. Artists ape both international and local rich artists but with nothing in their pockets.
- nothing in their pockets because there are no platforms for them to show talent possessed for pay and if any there is a platform, the event organizers prefer to take advantage of NOT PAYING ARTISTS because the underground talents are "hungry and starving" for the SHOWS therefore blindly perform and do sports to show their talents always for free. The question is: Why free yet established artists and celebrities get paid for making appearance in the same platforms? Young talents end up frustrated and demoralized
this situation makes the society loose many supper talents since the frustrated talented youth sadly decide and risk finding other options of getting income to support the lives which get harder and harder with time. In the process, some get shot down in the robbery attempt; others get into drugs while some acquired sexually transmitted infections (STIs) as they seek other avenues of making money like prostitution. The frustration even force the youth to abandon their talents, talents which would otherwise break records in global competitions. SAUTI KUBWA is the savior of the lives of these youths and their talents. We are losing a lot of people and talents which should be changed to make this world a better place to live in. SAUTI KUBWA does this. (SAUTI KUBWA is STRAINING to reach out to potential able people with the same thinking to establish proper links and connections FOR SUPPORT so that the talented and youths with specific gifts/skills:
1. Can continuously get platforms to display their skills and talents, therefore SAUTI KUBWA manages events
2. Can get better ways as payment for their skills creativity and sweat. Creating employment for the youth
3. Can get connections and links to next levels for the most outstanding talents, Career development.
4. Can get materials and equipment’s needed in the growth of their talents. Quality and professional production.
5. Can get advocates in the rightfulness of the talent industries. Legal rights awareness
6. Can be awarded through SAUTI KUBWA SLUM AWARDS. All the above needs resources, ex-parties and materials which currently is a challenge for the team. Currently, we are mobilize artists to discuss, rehearse and critique themselves, share, encourage each other and bond. But even getting a social hall is hard forcing us to partner with other organizations to be dependent on them. We can also not afford a formal office. (THE FAME) calls for ANYBODY who can LINK us with the Government, Co-operates, Organizations, Religious Institutions, well-wishers and the entire society TO HELP achieve the vision of change to make the world a better place to live in.

Some of you remember how the pictures of Barrack Obama's daughter working in a restaurant went viral. Some were wondering how the daughter of the president of the world's most powerful country can work in a restaurant while studying in a college.

Some societies have a tradition of instilling the work culture and work ethics in their children. Most of them work as they attend college. Their parents also do two or three jobs.

In other societies, young people wait to "finish" studies before they can "start" working. In between classes, and during holidays, all they do is party. Instead of finding any kind of a job so that they build connections and potential opportunities. They borrow money from their parents to go partying. Even at home, "adult children" sit pretty waiting for the working person to cook and clean. Then we wonder why they can't keep a job.

We have to change this culture.

One of the gender based violence is R**E.

What is r**e??
R**e is the use of physical force of emotional coercing to pe*****te an adult vaginal oral or a**l orifices without his or her consent.

Steps done after r**e:
Step 1: Ensure your personal safety by going to a safe place.

Step2
Do not take a shower or bath. Do not clean your ge****ls as this will destroy evidence.
Do not throw away your clothes preserve for evidence.

If you change clothes, wrap them in a brown paper bag newspaper bag newspaper, not a plastic bag.

Step3:seek medical assistance at the nearest hospital or health facility
Get preventive treatment for HIV sexually transmitted infectious and pregnancy within 72 hours
Ensure that the post r**e care form is filled and take original and duplicate copies with you to police station

Step 4:It is important that you seek psychological support counselling

Step 5:seek legal redress
NB:we put forensic clothing in brown khaki envelopes, and we don't advise one to use a newspaper, and one should also minimize the number of people touching the forensic evidence to avoid inclining.
