We were honoured to join the Global Fund TB Women’s Leadership Forum bringing together women leaders who are challenging the status quo and shaping the future of the HIV, TB and Malaria response.

Capacity building is only meaningful when it translates into action. When women have the knowledge, confidence, networks and tools to engage decision-makers, shape laws and policies, influence programmes, demand accountability and ensure that lived realities are reflected in the decisions that affect communities.

And that is the power of investing in women’s leadership.

Congratulations to all the women leaders in the 2026 cohort. Your voices matter. Your experiences are evidence. And your leadership belongs in every room where decisions about TB, health and communities are being made.

Different rooms. Same mission!
Law. Health. Human rights. Communities. Research ethics. Our ED, Melba Katindi, wears a few hats, but the thread connecting them is simple: people, rights and dignity must remain at the centre.
This week, she’s wearing her Bioethics Society of Kenya Vice Chair hat as BSK celebrates an exciting 10 years!
Because good science isn’t just about what we can do, it’s also about who benefits, who has a voice and whether we do it right.

And just like that, Day 1 of the Human Rights & Gender Conference is in the books!
Today reminded us that human rights conversations are not just about policies, laws and frameworks, they are about people, power, dignity, voice and the realities communities experience every single day.
The big takeaway?
Rights don't move forward simply because we have good laws or beautiful policies on paper. They move when people claim their rights, communities have a voice, institutions are held accountable and all of us are willing to challenge what isn't working.
And yes… we also made new connections, exchanged ideas, laughed a little and probably collected enough business cards to start a small filing cabinet.

Three days. Countless conversations. Too much tea. Not enough sleep. ☕😄

NEXTGEN lawyers is Proud to have supported the planning and facilitation of the Forum, where critical discussions on sustainability, accountability, human rights, disability inclusion, digital health, community leadership and resilience took centre stage.

The most important lesson?

Strong community systems are built when communities are heard, included and trusted as partners.

It has been over four months since the Presidential Taskforce on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide released its report. Since then, what has changed?

Women and girls are still being killed. Families are still demanding justice. Communities are still calling for action.

Today, we celebrate the women who mother beyond biology; the nurturers, protectors, providers, advocates and everyday heroes shaping our communities with courage and love.

At NEXTGEN Lawyers, we are honored to walk alongside diverse women from all walks of life, women living with HIV, survivors of violence, women who use drugs, young mothers, caregivers, changemakers, and those too often unseen by systems meant to protect them.

Happy Mother’s Day to every woman carrying love and strength in ways the world may never fully see.
