Finally! The 2014 Moratorium on Registration of Churches has been lifted! The process for registration would commence with a name search for the requested name. You would then need to draft and file the Constitution and the prescribed forms at the registry. The requirements throughout the process in a nut-shell are as follows:
a) Proposed Name of the society;
b) Objects of the Society;
c) Postal address of the Society;
d) Registered Physical address for the society;
e) Names of the officials in full. Chairman, secretary and treasurers;
f) Addresses of each official;
g) Copy of national identification card, KRA Pin Certificate and one Passport Photograph from each member of the society(there should be at least 10 members);
h) Tel Numbers and email address of each member;
i) Copy of Certificate, Diploma or degree in theology from a recognized theological institution from at least one officer of the society;
j) Certificate of good conduct from the National Police Service from each officer of the society;
k) A tax Compliance or exemption certificate from KRA from each officer of society;
l) Affidavit sworn by each officer indicating if they are members or officers of other religious societies and names of such societies;
m) An introduction/recommendation letter from a registered religious society in good standing by any two officers of such society; and
n) List of the members of the society indicating their full names, ID numbers and phone numbers of each member.
The process of registration may take 2-3 months.
