CARRY ON

Carry on sweet mom,
Carry on to the bright light;
Carry on with the dance,
Oh the sweet daughter of Sakwa K’apiyo,
Carry on Nyar K’Ochieng,
Carry on with your enchanting smile,
Carry on with pride,
Carry on with your pure heart,
Carry on with the joy and peace;
As we carry on,
One year on we brave through,
With pain and heavy heart, we carry on,
And always remember;
Your love for God and the church,
Your compassion,
And willingness to stretch your hands,
Your courage
And fight,
So carry on into the afterlife,
Carry on with the Angels,
As we carry on;
One year gone,
And we still remember,
Your words that gave us wise counsel,
Your wings that held us together,
Carry on Mom,
And thank you for being Mother

The Unseen Danger with the Corona Virus
I know you have heard it by now, that we need to wash our hands, sanitize, put on our masks and keep the social distance. And yes, I agree with President Uhuru when he says our health facilities are not able to handle a full blown COVID 19 pandemic. But even as we continue to fight the virus two things are forgotten in Kenya, One, that the people and especially the poor still suffer from other diseases such as malaria. I am saying as a country we seem to be looking at COVID as we forget the other things. Kenya is this pregnant woman who takes care of the unborn child as she forgets that she has other children who still need care. Well that can only be described as tragic, what ticks it for me however, is as much as 54-year-old Kenya has always been promised improved healthcare, we still think it’s a fancy “political promise” Well it’s not and please the 2022 voter needs to listen. Healthcare is more than an Article 43 issue. But just my thought…

Politics and Law
Is there a nexus between politics and law? I must confess I do not have an answer to this question. I do not have any credible authority that gives me a tangible connection between the two, though I must confess I think if there is it must be a very interesting field of study. My take away from Governor Waiguru’s impeachment proceedings was that it was a mixture of the two law and politics in parliament. Well, I am also unable to understand which side carried the day weather it was the law or the politics. This aside I found the process a bit untidy. A process that involve lawyers who are involved in an adversal battle mixed together with Hon. Senators who are non-lawyers but politicians. Was it a legal process or a political process? I bet this we still have to figure out.

Sin of Mama Africa 2020
Aaah what’s the sin of Mama Africa?
That your children have to suffer in misery
What’s your sin Mama Africa?
Your children colonized and made slaves
In their own land
Toiling to produce for the white man
And many had to shed blood
A lot of people had to die
To make Africa free or so we thought,
But in the words of Jaramogi
Not yet Uhuru
So what’s you sin Mama Africa?
That your children still remain slaves?
We used to talk of civil wars
But as much as it has gone down,
We still talk of tribal wars,
Those who want to feel fancy may say xenophobia,
But what’s your sin Mama Africa
That your children must live in hatred
Why do your people die from guns they don’t produce?
Man eat Man in the words of Mwalimu Nyerere
And what’s your sin Mama Africa?
That your children must languish in poverty
With Governments and leaders who take and take
What’s your sin Mama Africa?
That your people should pay taxes
And live in countries with poor roads
What is your sin Mama Africa?
That your people should pay taxes
And live in countries with poor healthcare
Why should children of Africa be subjected to mediocre education system
Why are the many of Africa
Slaves to a few
What is your sin Mama Africa?
That your children should always be lesser people

I remember the chants; Democracy means a Government by the people for the people. I must admit back then in Primary and Secondary school it was all about contents to write in my exams. Later, law school and jurisprudence would illuminate things, I would understand the meaning of these words but was ambitious and hopeful. Today as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, I accept the reality that Democracy is a foreign concept and we only pretend to practice. If this COVID 19 is teaching Kenya and Africa is the reality of the phrase Government for the people. Come to think of it, why are the cases worrying yet they are relatively fewer than those in Europe or elsewhere? It is because we do not have enough facilities or hospitals to handle the situation in the event of an explosion, but let me ask what have most of African Governments been doing with citizen’s taxes over the years? I understand it is a tough time but the so called appeal to cooperates organizations to give out money to Government is foolish. African Governments need to learn to take care of their people. There… it’s said
