CJPC – Kisii is hosted by the Catholic Diocese of Kisii which is a faith based organization (FBO). It is situated in Western Kenya, Nyanza Province and covers two administrative counties; Kisii and Nyamira. The Diocese came into being in 1960 after being curved out of Kisumu Archdiocese. At present Kisii Diocese has about 500,000 Catholic faithfuls spread out in 18 parishes. The commission has str
uctures to prayer houses (Small Christian Communities) through which it implements its activities which include: - peace building and transformation, youth empowerment, human rights, civic education and election observation. To enhance effective citizens participation in governance and democracy through access to justice and involvement in decision making processes.
2. To promote peace, cohesion and integration among and between the bordering communities of Luo, Kipsigis and Kisii.
3. To build the capacities of the youth to undertake in livelihood initiatives, such as vocational trainings, small businesses, horticulture and intensive agriculture for employment and income generation. Activities run by the commission:
1. Establishment of County Liason Desk which acts as a link between the citizens and the county offices.
2. Training programmes for parish leaders, youths and women.
3. Capacity building for CSOs in the region.
4. Advisory Services and Legal Aid.
5. Organizing and supporting Court Users’ forums.
6. Peace building and transformation programmes.
7. Supporting peace clubs in schools and higher learning institutions.
8. Youth formation and empowerment programmes.
