At Great Soul Refugee CBO, we are committed to strengthening the health, dignity, and wellbeing of LGBTQI+ refugees in Nairobi. Today, we are proud to share our HIV/AIDS Prevention Timeline, a structured and evidence-based approach guiding how we support vulnerable youth in our community.

Our model ensures that every intervention—from data collection to final reporting—is systematic, accountable, and aligned with global SRHR standards.

This timeline reflects our core priorities:

✔ Community-driven needs assessment

✔ Youth-focused HIV education and prevention

✔ Accessible SRHR information and safe spaces

✔ Linkage to HIV testing, PrEP, PEP, and mental health support

✔ Transparent monitoring, evaluation, and reporting

The graphic below showcases our 10-step prevention process, designed specifically to address the daily realities of LGBTQI+ refugees facing stigma, homelessness, and barriers to healthcare.

World AIDS Day | 16 Days of Activism Against GBV

Today, Great Soul Refugee CBO joins the global community in commemorating World AIDS Day under the theme: “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response.”

As we also observe the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting and empowering LGBTQIA+ refugees in Nairobi—individuals who continue to face intersecting vulnerabilities, limited access to healthcare, and heightened risks of GBV.

At Great Soul Refugee CBO, we work every day to ensure:
✔ Access to lifesaving HIV information and services
✔ Safe shelter for those escaping violence
✔ Mental health and psychosocial support
✔ Community empowerment and advocacy

But we cannot do this work alone.

we believe that sexual pleasure is an important part of sexual health — and that sexual health is a human right for everyone, including LGBTQI+ refugees.

Too often, sexual health conversations only focus on risk and disease prevention. While these are important, we must also center pleasure, dignity, and choice in how we approach sexual and reproductive health.
