🔥NOZAWA HIMATSURI 2026🔥 GREAT DEAL WE HAVEN'T SEEN FOR A WHILE.

We have a special access to 5nts/6days Nozawa Onsen hotel package for 1-2 people for HIMATSURI!! Jan 12-16. Prime location near Nagasaka gondola, right by one of their 13 public natural hot springs. Concierge Japow partners know the owner.

Nozawa's Dosojin Matsuri (fire festival) is one of the major 3 fire festivals in Japan. Only villagers and the village hotel guests can get a free ticket for the festival, which started last year. This is one of the rare chances to witness the festival with your own eyes. The rooms are usually booked for years in advance. Good rooms in Nozawa really do not come around often in winter, let alone for those dates.

The catches are:

1)Non-refundable 50% deposit is required at the reservation. 100% non-refundable by Dec 10th as per the Inn's policy.

2)The room is small. One double-bed in a 6.5tatami size room. Best for a single or a couple. The Inn has a private tab that you can lock. shared toilets.

3) If you care about the room size, need a private bath/toilet, require food options or have many dietary restrictions, this Inn is not for you. A no-meal option is available.

4) If you are adaptive, care about really good Japanese food, appreciate newly renovated and clean space, and enjoy onsen-hopping and be naked in public hot springs, this is for you.

Japan has introduced mandatory pre-arrival tuberculosis screening for long-term visitors from the Philippines and Nepal starting today, in response to rising TB cases among foreign nationals.

Vietnam will be added in September, with Indonesia, Myanmar, and China expected to follow, according to the Health Ministry, Japan Today reports.

While we are still skiing a lift served resort in Tohoku Region, Tokyo hits 92 °F/ 33 °C this afternoon. It has been humid, hot few days in Japan.

Gassan in Yamagata opens for skiing mid April to early July every year, due to the access road closure during snow season (seriously, too much snow!). Japanese hardcore skiers pilgrim to Gassan this time of year.

Japow fun facts;

Ski resort with the tallest snow pack in the world is Okuibuki, Shiga. Located in further southwest of any popular mountains foreign skiers/riders have ever heard of, 11m 82cm (39ft 4in) of snow stacked up on top of the soil in 1927.

The region with the most snow fall in the World is Sukayu, Aomori at average 17m (55ft 8in) per season. However, their average snow pack depth is *only* 5m 66cm (18ft 4in) due to lower elevation.

50% of land in Japan is covered in more than 50cm (20in) of snow for more than 100 days a year. 16% of Japan's entire population, 20M people live in those regions.

When your friend tells you, "____ has the deepest snow in Japan" and if it were Niseko or Hakuba, take it with a grain of salt.

~Concierge Japow partner spotlight~

Meet Tomo, co-founder and partner of Concierge Japow.

Tomo was born in Gifu Japan on a foot+ powder day. Her poor grandfather had to carry her mom in labor on his back to the main street where snow was plowed and a taxi was waiting.

She grew up skiing Gifu and Nagano resorts extensively in 80s and 90s where her brother worked in the ski industry.

After working as a city planner to preserve historic town houses in Osaka for 4 years, she received a full tuition scholarship and Bachelor of Architecture degree in New York City. She designed buildings in the US for the next 25 years. Now she applies her professional expertise and ski connections in the U.S. and Japan to connect foreign visitors to local ski communities in Japan.

She splits her time between New York City, A ski resort w/ alpine racing program in Massachusetts, and Yuzawa, Niigata.

She skis Japan, U.S. and Europe about 70 days per season. Her favorite ski resorts are Val D’Isère/Tignes, Alta/Snowbird, Sugarbush/Mad River Glen and Naeba/Kagura.

She is found car camping, foraging mushrooms&wild vegetables, and fishing during off season.
