Hello everyone!
How are you?

When checking whether you have good conduct, we will check to see if you have received any penalties for illegal acts, such as fines or imprisonment.

If you have received a prison sentence or a fine in the past, as a guideline, you will need to wait about 5 to 10 years from the date of the punishment before applying for permanent residence permission.
The duration of the sentence will vary depending on the severity of the individual punishment and the amount of the fine.

As a guideline, if you have five or more minor traffic violations within the past five years, you will be subject to behaviour conditions.
Examples of minor traffic violations include parking violations and one-way street violations.

If you have committed a serious traffic violation that can result in criminal penalties or license suspension, such as drunk driving or speeding exceeding 50 km per hour, there is a high chance that you will not be granted permanent residence even if you apply.

In addition, it is also necessary that the part-time or temporary employment place has properly fulfilled the obligation to report the employment status of foreign nationals under immigration laws.

Hello everyone!
How's it going?

To be eligible for permanent residence permission, the applicant must have consistently adhered to the law in their daily lives and maintained a life as a resident that is not socially criticised.
The standard for judging whether a person's conduct is good is based on social norms, taking into consideration a person's past contributions to Japanese society, etc.

Specifically, the following examples will be checked:

1 Not having been punished by fines or imprisonment for illegal acts.
2 No serious traffic violations or five or more minor traffic violations within the past five years.
3 The obligation to report the employment status of foreign nationals under immigration laws has been duly fulfilled.

Please refer to the next post if you are concerned about the example above.

Hello everyone!
I hope you are well.

Please note that if you leave Japan multiple times while residing in Japan on a work visa, the count towards your "10 or more continuous years of residence" requirement may be reset.

If you leave the country for more than 90 days at a time, or for more than 180 days in a year, and you cannot provide a reasonable reason, it is believed that your application for permanent residence will be adversely affected.

The term "continuously" also refers to the condition in which one's residence status continues without interruption.

Please note that if you leave Japan without obtaining re-entry permission, or if your re-entry permission expires while you are overseas, your status of residence will be considered lost, and you will not be considered to be continuing to reside in Japan.
