3月30日、オーストラリア・シドニーにて、東京オフィスのパートナー（外国法事務弁護士）であるバイロン・フロスト（Aussie）が、豪日経済協力委員会（AJBCC）及び在オーストラリア日本国大使館主催の「Forging the next 50 years: Australian investment opportunities in Japan」にて、日本市場への新たな投資戦略をテーマとしたパネルディスカッションのモデレーターを務めました。

本セッションでは、日本で拡大する投資機会を背景に、日本市場に対するオーストラリア企業の関心が高まっていることが紹介されました。

テック、メドテック、気候変動、量子分野など幅広いテーマを通じて、特に先端製造業における信頼関係、文化理解、長期的なパートナーシップの重要性があらためて共有されました。

On 30 March in Sydney, Australia, our Tokyo partner (foreign registered lawyer), Byron Frost, moderated a panel on emerging investment strategies for the Japanese market at “Forging the next 50 years: Australian investment opportunities in Japan,” hosted by the Australian–Japan Business Co-operation Committee (AJBCC) and the Embassy of Japan in Australia.

The discussion highlighted a shift in focus, with growing numbers of Australian companies looking to Japan as investment opportunities continue to expand.

With insights spanning tech, medtech, climate and quantum innovation, the conversation reinforced the importance of trust, cultural understanding and long-term partnerships, particularly in advanced manufacturing.

スプリングジョブ・プログラムのご報告

ベーカーマッケンジー東京事務所では、2月から3月にかけて法科大学院生向けのスプリングジョブ・プログラムを実施しました。

参加者の皆さんには、企業法務の実務を体験していただくため、個別課題（リサーチ・起案等）に取り組み、担当弁護士がフィードバックを行いました。今年も好評のグループディスカッションを実施し、「初めて会った仲間とチームで課題に取り組むことが刺激的で有意義だった」「指導を通じてグローバルに挑戦したい思いが強くなった」などの声をいただいています。

また、専門家と気軽に交流できるオープンな雰囲気のカフェスペースでは、カジュアルな懇談の機会が多く生まれました。

Spring Job Program report

Baker McKenzie Tokyo recently welcomed a new crop of law students to our office for this year’s Spring Job Program from February to March.

Participants had the opportunity to gain hands-on corporate law experience through individual research and drafting assignments, followed by personalized feedback from our attorneys. Our group discussion sessions — always a highlight — were again well received. “Working in a team with peers I had just met was stimulating and meaningful,” one student commented. Another remarked, “Interacting with the attorneys strengthened my motivation to pursue a global career.”

Program participants also had the chance to casually interact with our attorneys in our office’s open café space.
