His passing marks the end of an era and a powerful recollection of the crucial years of my own. Once upon a time a few late “greats” had written me off as semi literate, apparently I understood shapes and sounds of alphabets but my mind was blank to literature. It was claimed that Shakespeare, Hamlet and the like were a requisite for a career in law. I understood little of them, but I did understand Mahabaratha (which was written off as folklore yet it was pivotal to my understanding of the world around me) and in the modern world I understood Jeffrey Archer. In the worst years of my life reading and understanding him gave me sanity, hope and a belief that I had a future. It started with Kane & Able and it did not end. Thanks for the memories ☀️
