Tejavath Susheela:
Susheela, who saved the lives of several pregnant women by counselling them to take timely treatment and prevented many newborns from becoming motherless, lost her 19 year old daughter, who is a medical student, just few months back.

A native of Khammam’s Raghunadhapalem, Susheela works as an ANM with Yerragunta Primary Healthcare Centre located in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district. She was awarded for her dedicated service of 25 years to Gutti Koya remote tribes.

Stating that she was the first one to study college in her community, she said, “It was an ecstatic moment to receive the award by the hands of the President.”

“It was my daughter who encouraged me to drop an application last year. I dedicate the award to her. Though receiving this award is a moment of pride, we are still unable to fathom the fact that she’s not there with us,” she says.

Tejavath Susheela, an Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM) from Telangana, was awarded the prestigious National Florence Nightingale Award 2022. She is the only recipient of this award from Telangana.

Established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in 1973, the award is a recognition of exceptional service rendered by nurses and nursing professionals to society. The nominations involve various healthcare institutions, which are then evaluated by esteemed healthcare professionals.

Despite great strides made by the international women’s rights movement over many years, women and girls around the world are still married as children or trafficked into forced labor and s*x slavery. They are refused access to education and political participation, and some are trapped in conflicts where r**e is perpetrated as a weapon of war. Around the world, deaths related to pregnancy and childbirth are needlessly high, and women are prevented from making deeply personal choices in their private lives. Human Rights Watch is working toward the realization of women’s empowerment and gender equality—protecting the rights and improving the lives of women and girls on the ground

I got this question from my opposite gender which is if women are equal to men why there are special laws(Acts) for women and why women are agitating for reservation?
My answer is Yes all human beings are equal when we delete the concept of men and women from our minds, both men and women are made with special qualities there is no comparison with one another for eg. Can we compare an infant with an adult?
To uplift the weaker section there is a need for special laws to protect their rights.
While competing with an existed group there is a need for a reservation.
While we are talking about gender equality we have to consider so many things at the same time we have to accept the facts without considering the facts there is no possibility of equality. The important aspect is the change in human psychology about the opposite gender, we constructed an opinion about one gender that "She" must be like this and "He" should be like this without crossing these boundaries there is no question of equality whether it is gender or social.
