USCIS will temporarily suspend premium processing for FY 2019 H-1B cap petitions

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that they will temporarily suspend premium processing for all FY 2019 cap-subject petitions. Along with it, petitions seeking exemption for individuals with a US master’s degree or higher is also suspended. The suspension is expected until September 10, 2018. The USCIS, however, will continue to accept premium requests for H-1B petitions that are not subject to the FY 2019 cap. The federal agency has reported that petitions for H1-B visas, popularly known as cap petitions, will be accepted from April 2.

The USCIS said that the temporary suspension of premium processing will help it reduce overall H-1B processing time.
