Jindal Technology Law and Policy Moot

Jindal Technology Law and Policy Moot India's first Moot Court Competition based exclusively on Intellectual Property and Competition Law hosted by the JGLS Moot Court Society.

Jindal Global Law School (JGLS), one of India’s leading private law schools, will be hosting the first Annual Jindal Technology Law & Policy Moot Court Competition (Jindal Moot) from 28th day of April to 1st of May, 2016. The Preliminary rounds will be hosted at O.P Jindal Global University’s (JGU’s) Campus, and the Championship rounds will be held in New Delhi. The moot problem will be based on t

he thematic area concerning Intellectual Property and Competition Law, which will be set out in an international context.

After two days of exciting preliminary rounds the following teams made it to the quarter final rounds -

1. GNLU
2. NUJS
3. Christ University
4. SLS Pune
5. NLSIU
6. NLU Orissa
7. NLU Delhi
8. ILS Pune

After a competitive quarter final rounds the following teams made it to the semi finals of the Competition -

1. NUJS
2. ILS Pune
3. Christ University
4. NLU Delhi.

The following two teams made it to the final round -

1. NLU, Delhi
2. NUJS

After a competitive 2 hour long final round NUJS emerged as the winner and NLU Delhi as the runners up of the 3rd edition of the Jindal Moot.

Best memorial was awarded to GNLU and 2nd best memorial went to NLU Delhi.

The prize for best speaker was bagged by Rishabh Mohnot from the NUJS team and 2nd best speaker was awarded to Sahil Maholtra from the NLU Delhi team. The prize for best speakers are based on the scores from the preliminary rounds and it was exciting to see both the awardees compete in the finals of the competition.

Spirit of the Competition was awarded to Nepal Law Campus, Tribhuvan University. The result was based on voting conducted at the end of the preliminary rounds.

We congratulate all the winners and the participants. We hope you all enjoyed working on the competition case and the rounds as much as we did hosting you.

On behalf of the Moot Court Society at Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) an the Jindal Initiative for Research in IP and Competition Law (JIRICO), it gives us great pleasure to announce the 3rd Edition of the Jindal Technology Law & Policy Moot Court Competition, 2018 (Jindal Moot).

The subject matter of this year’s competition will revolve around issues at the intersection of Intellectual Property and Trade law.

However, this competition is invite-only where we expect participation from teams belonging to national and international Universities. There shall be no registration fee for the competition.

Information regarding this year (3rd Edition):
* Subject matter: Intersection of Intellectual Property and Trade law.
* Moot proposition release date: 15th December (tentative date).
* Registration: After release of the moot proposition.
* Dates of the competition: 23rd – 25th March, 2018.

Pursuant to several requests from all teams registered, and given that some universities are still on vacation, we have decided to accommodate your requests concerning several deadlines. This is the final schedule of important dates for the 2nd Jindal Moot.

Deadline for Registration – 11th February 2017

Response to Round 1 of Clarifications Received – 7th February 2017

Deadline for Round 2 to Seek Clarifications – 15th February 2017

Response to Round 2 of Clarifications Sought – 20th February 2017

Deadline for Submission of Memorials – 17th March 2017, by or before 11.59 PM.

Oral Rounds of Competition – 24th to 26th March 2017

Please note that this revised timeline allows you to seek clarifications under until 15th February 2017. This ability to seek clarifications is still subject to the rules of the Competition, wherein you are permitted to seek only 3 clarification questions.

Dear Participants,

Sub: Rules For Jindal Moot | Clarification on Memorial Submission and Oral Round Dates

1. The dates for memorial submission are the same as advertised on our invitation, which is – March 10, 2017 by or before 11.59 PM.

2. Dates of the Oral Rounds of the Competition are also the same as advertised, which is – 24th to 26th March, 2017.
