The legal fraternity has always stood as a pillar of justice, constitutional values, and the rule of law. Therefore, any remarks that may be perceived as diminishing the dignity of advocates engaged in peaceful and democratic expression of their concerns deserve careful reflection.
The ongoing concerns raised by sections of the Bar regarding the LADC system stem from issues relating to professional opportunities, institutional balance, and the future of independent legal practice. Advocates expressing their views through lawful and peaceful means are exercising rights that form the very foundation of a democratic society.
At the same time, there is a broader conversation that continues within legal circles regarding transparency, accountability, judicial appointments, the collegium system, and concerns about perceived concentration of influence within certain sections of the legal community. These are important institutional issues that deserve constructive discussion and meaningful reform.
A strong judiciary, an independent Bar, and open dialogue are not opposing forcesโthey are complementary pillars of the justice delivery system. Respectful engagement with differing viewpoints strengthens institutions, whereas dismissing concerns risks widening the gap between stakeholders.
The legal profession seeks neither confrontation nor privilege; it seeks fairness, transparency, and meaningful consultation on policies that directly affect the administration of justice and the livelihood of advocates across the country.
