After the decision given by the Hon’ble Apex Court with regards to minimum 3yrs practice for Civil Judge , first time the Sikkim Judicial Service has floated an advertisement where the 3yrs practice is one of the eligibility criteria are inserted. Now its clear that those who are practicing in Civil court their 3years practice will be duly certified either by the Principal Judicial Officer of that court or by an Advocate having minimum 10 years practice in that respective court duly endorsed by Principal Judicial Officer. AND those who are practicing in High Court or Supreme Court their 3 years shall be certified by an Advocate minimum standing of 10 years duly endorsed by and Officer designated for the same purpose by High Court or Supreme Court.

A Delhi court has summoned a litigant who was seen smoking a cigarette while appearing in his case through video conference on March 25.

Additional District Judge Shiv Kumar of the Tis Hazari Court noted that the litigant Sushil Kumar was asked about his misconduct but he left the virtual courtroom instead of providing an explanation.

His counsel also left the court after taking a date from the court, as per the order published today. Accordingly, the Court issued notice to Kumar for his physical presence before it on March 29.

"The applicant no.1/Sh. Sushil Kumar is directed to remain present in the Court on 29.03.2025 and file his explanation, as to why action should not be taken against him for smoking on the VC, during Court proceedings," the order said.

The bench comprising Justice BV Nagarathna and Justice N Kotiswar Singh was hearing the appeal filed against the Madhya Pradesh High Court's order dismissing the Appellant's appeal against the conviction because there was a delay of 1637 days in preferring the appeal against the conviction.

The Court stated that the right to appeal, particularly when it concerns the liberty of an individual, is a fundamental right under Article 21 of the Constitution.
