CII - Indian Green Building Council - IGBC organized A tribute to Dr. Prem C Jain, “a green visionary ” and ex chairman of Indian Green Building Congress(IGBC) on the 6th Feb 2019 at VK:e environmental, Pune, Maharashtra.

Mrs. Anita Gokhale – Executive Director at the Centre for Development Studies and Activities (CDSA) Pune and her son Siddharth Gokhale who has developed the iNagrik app were the guests of honour.

It was an intimate gathering with eminent personalities from the Green Building fraternity who have personally had the opportunity to work alongside Mr. Jain along with Architects, Planners and people who truly believe in his vision and strive to achieve his dream to make Bharat as the world leader in green buildings" including

4 Affordable Housing projects under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Solapur received EC last week.

These projects were inaugurated by Hon. PM Shri Narendra Modi on 9th Jan 2019

VK:e environmental Kannur International Airport, Kerala now a LEED India Gold rated Project, another prestigious feather added to VK:e environmental cap!

After Rajarhat Kolkata, another one of VK:e environmental prestigious projects, The Kannur International Airport-the largest airport in Kerala, spread across an area of more than 2000 acres recently got Gold rated under LEED India.

Our team's immense hardwork and dedication has paid off!

The Green Highlights of this Gold rated project are:
1. Ecological landscaping
2. Solid waste management
3.The project has proposed total open vegetated area equal to 3.44 times the building footprint.
4.Sewage treatment plant treating 100% waste water generated and an overall water use reduction of over 46.02 % by using water efficient plumbing fixtures.
5.The project has reduced energy consumption by about 21% as compared to ASHRAE baseline.

VK:e environmental has provided consultancy for Building energy conservation measures, analysis and simulation. Incorporation of energy efficient systems. Preservation of Natural topography and landscape. Day light, artificial light and facade optimization for achieving energy savings.Green measure guidelines and Appropriate selection of eco friendly materials for the project.

VK:e environmental has been providing Green Building Consultancy to some of the most Notable Projects in India.
New Town Kolkata-Rajarhat has recently received a Gold rating under CII IGBC Green Cities.
The project has addressed Sustainability under the heads such as Landuse Planning, Built Environment, Sustainable Mobility, Health and Wellbeing of residents, Water, Energy and Infrastructure Management.

Greensburg, a town near Kansas (Yes, the Dorothy of Wizard of Oz town), was completely devastated in a tornado, 10 years ago. Now this town goes completely Green. Rebuilds itself on principles and showcases how can be practiced.

Acres School, Chembur, Mumbai is another interesting project that VK:e environmental team worked on closely with Tushar Desai & Architects to create a beautiful and climate responsive building in heart of Chembur.

When we began discussions with the Architects, both teams were keen to understand how daylight will enter the building and how children can benefit from learning in good quality of daylight, rather than under tubelights.

How do we ensure uniform daylight throughout the classroom? How can we avoid the glare on the blackboard?

VK:e environmental team worked to generate multiple simulation options from which the Architects team could derive a design that optimizes daylight within the building.

Recently, it won the Artists in Concrete Award (AICA) of 2015, acknowledging good design of an Educational Institute.

This is a post about a very interesting and unique opportunity that VK:e environmental had for developing an Energy Efficient Building in Bangalore, Karnataka. The project was a pilot project by (BEE), and the building to be designed was the Krupa VVIP Guest House.

The compliance was necessary, and team VK:e were amongst the first in India to undertake this work. So, there was no precedence nor a similar case study before us.

The entire study is so interesting that the VKe team, led by Poorva Keskar and comprising of Kanchan Sarbhukan, Namrata Bhagwat and Ketaki Rairikar developed many Energy Conservation Measures in Architectural Design and also in Building services like HVAC, Water Heating, Lighting and Power Systems. It was a truly enriching experience for the team and for as it resulted into a trove of information, including costs & other benchmarks for Indian Buildings and .

We at VK:e look forward to making Green, one building at a time!
