Recently won a case in consumer case which was filed by a book author against publisher in Consumer Court for royalty claim and compensation.
Arguments submitted on behalf of publisher by us were the Author is not consumer within ambit of definition of consumer. Further there is arbitration clause in Agreement and the Author has failed to prove the number of copies published by publisher. Therefore the complaint needs to be rejected.
The Hon'ble Consumer Forum Pune dismissed the complaint considering the arguments advanced based on aforesaid points.

The general perception about Thai Laws is that they are complicated. On the other side the Thailand laws on ownership of properties by foreigners is quite clear. The foreigners can buy FREEHOLD CONDOMINIUMS. Foreigners can buy and own buildings and structures, such as Villas (distinct from land) and can take land on lease. The Thai law says foreigners cannot own land. Similarly in India a foreigner cannot buy land.
