Dear All,

Greetings from the Centre For Public Law, Gender Studies Cell & ILS Q***r Alliance!

We are releasing a joint statement opposing the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Bill, 2026.

Please find the drive link of our statement here - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1I4OyEuw_Zmg_ZXWbUATHWgEOtjBPVimu/view?usp=sharing

In this statement -
We reject Bill No. 79 of 2026. We reject because it fails the Constitution, it fails the struggles, and already secured victories of the transgender community. It disenfranchises a marginalized gender community and divests them of their right to self-identification.

Please amplify the message that trans rights are human rights.

Regards,
CPL, GSC & IQA

Greetings ✨

The University Grants Commission recently notified it’s 2026 regulations on Promotion of Equity in Higher Educational Institutions. The regulations have been at the receiving end of uproar by certain political groups.

The Supreme Court in a heavy handed manner vide an interim order stayed the regulations without listening to merits of the case.

To counter this brazen and insensitive approach, and to understand the constitutional gravity of the issue of casteism in HEIs, the Centre For Public Law brings to you a session on Examining the UGC Regulations in context of the Caste Question in HEIs.

Date: 20th February, 2026 (Friday)
Time: 7:00 PM
Mode: Online

Note - We encourage all the prospective attendees to have a interaction with us in the session and not have an esoteric perception of the topic.

Hope to see y’all in large numbers!

CPL

In January 2026, Supreme Court of India ruled in the most watched tax dispute of the Authority for Advanced Rulings vs Tiger Global International Holdings. The verdict overturned the 2024 Delhi High Court judgement and created panic among multiple foreign institutional investors with regards to blanket-application of General Anti-Avoidance Rules(GAAR).

The judgement opened Pandora’s box of constitutional issues like state sovereignty and tax jurisdiction, Arbitrariness and due process and substance over form. We welcome you to join in this engaging session where we discuss above issues in light of the judgement and the contemporary jurisprudence.

Greetings✨

We have an exciting announcement for one and all!

The Centre For Public Law is collaborating with the Centre For International Law to unpack a seminal topic that interfaces constitutional law and international law.

International law on climate change tries to grapple with the changing legal framework and climate change. It has repercussions on municipal law as well.

Indian constitutional law has _synergized with ILCC_ on several grounds although there have been quite a few judicial aberrations recently.

CPL and CIL hence bring to you a session on A Constitutional Understanding of International Law on Climate Change that will answer all these questions and issues.

Date: 30th January, 2026 (Friday)
Time: 4:45 PM
Venue: Hall No. 8

We encourage all the prospective attendees to have a general understanding of ILCC in order to interact and engage better in the session.

Hoping to see you all in large numbers!

Regards,
CPL & CIL

The Centre for Public Law brings to you a session on _”Understanding the Gig Workers’ Demands through the Purview of New Labour Codes”_

The session will delineate who is a gig worker in the economic sense before discussing the legitimate demands of the platform based gig workers’ on New Year’s Eve.

Date: 5th January 2026 (Monday)
Time: 4:45 PM
Venue: Hall No. 8

Hope to see you all in large numbers!
