New Zealand is an English speaking country with a strong university system in an area with breathtaking Lord of the Ring-like topography. With its scenery and beaches it makes this country a favorite to most who want to study abroad.

You directly enroll in courses at the University of Auckland, where classes are offered on a point system. A course load of 60 points per semester is defined as full time.

The GPA* of admitted students are important, but majors offered, location, number of students enrolled, and campus culture are all factors in a prospective student’s decision. Some colleges and universities are publicly funded, while others are privately supported.

There's a Scholarship You Can Apply To

Go Overseas and Education New Zealand have partnered to offer several scholarships to study abroad in New Zealand. In 2017, we are giving away two undergraduate scholarships and two graduate scholarships!

To apply, choose three study abroad programs in New Zealand, submit a short essay explaining why you want to study abroad there, and submit a creative photo before Friday, October 13th, 2017.

2017 is our fourth year in a row that this scholarship has been offered, so apply today or check back next fall for more updates.

Admission Requirements for International Students
International students can gain admission to New Zealand universities in the following ways:

For admission to study at the first-year level

By completing in their home country a qualification which is recognised in New Zealand as equivalent to the New Zealand university entrance standard. (See this list for examples.)
By attending secondary school in New Zealand and achieving the university entrance standard.
By completing a foundation programme at a university in New Zealand.
By completing a recognised* university foundation programme offered by a non-university provider in New Zealand.

What is the cost of studying in New Zealand?
While New Zealand is a great place to study as an international student, it does have one downside – tuition costs. Fees for arts or social sciences range from NZ$20,000 (£9,680) a year. Courses in science and engineering can cost from NZ$25,000 (£12,000) per year.
