Reasons to study in Australia

Did you know Australia has the third highest number of international students in the world behind only the United Kingdom and the United States despite having a population of only 23 million? This isn’t surprising when you consider Australia has seven of the top 100 universities in the world! In fact, with over 22,000 courses across 1,100 institutions, Australia sits above the likes of Germany, the Netherlands and Japan, ranking eighth in the Universitas 2012 U21 Ranking of National Higher Education Systems.

These are strong academic credentials, but our institutions are just as highly rated as the cities that house them around the country. Australia has five of the 30 best cities in the world for students based on student mix, affordability, quality of life, and employer activity – all important elements for students when choosing the best study destination. And with more than A$200 million provided by the Australian Government each year in international scholarships, we’re making it easier for you to come and experience the difference an Australian education can make to your future career opportunities.

Do you have a specific study area of interest? There is every chance Australia has you covered, with at least one Australian university in the top 50 worldwide across the study areas of Natural Sciences & Mathematics, Life & Agricultural Sciences, Clinical Medicine & Pharmacy, and Physics.

Given this impressive education pedigree, it’s not surprising there are now more than 2.5 million former international students who have gone on to make a difference after studying in Australia. Some of these students are among the world’s finest minds. In fact, Australia has produced 15 Nobel prize laureates and every day over 1 billion people around the world rely on Australian discoveries and innovations – including penicillin, IVF, ultrasound, Wi-Fi, the Bionic Ear, cervical cancer vaccine and Black Box Flight Recorders – to make their lives, and the lives of others, better.

Why wouldn’t you want to study with some of the best minds in the world?

Students who wish to study in the US this year need to now start thinking about their visas and the application process. The basic requirement for the US student visa is relatively straightforward -you must have enough funds to pay for your entire course of education and show strong ties to your home country. The not so easy part of the process is to schedule appointments, collect documents and of course, appear for the visa interview.
Your first step should be to visit the CGI website. CGI is the company that bought over Stanley and is in charge of the US visa appointment scheduling process. It is important to keep checking CGI's website because the application procedure and fees are constantly changing. Once you have paid your SEVIS fee and have received your I20, you can fill the application form online (DS160) and pay the visa application fee ($160). You then schedule two appointments -one for submitting your biometrics and one for the actual visa interview with the US Consulate. So, you would have to make a minimum of two trips -one to the visa application centre and one to the US consulate.Getting appointments are generally not a problem, but it is always a good idea to apply early.

The most important thing in the entire student visa process is to be honest and straightforward in your application and interview. Be clear about your reasons to study abroad and be prepared to answer questions about your finances. The interview is the most important part of the US student visa process.During the interview you may be asked questions about the institute you plan to attend, your past academic record, your finances, your reasons to study abroad and your past foreign trips. The key to a successful interview is being prepared and confident.

While the US Consulate does not make any official recommendations on what documents you should be carrying, it is a good idea to carry all your academic marksheets and tran scripts, your standardised test score reports, your sponsor's income tax papers, proof of all movable and immovable assets and any other papers that can show your financial stability in your home country. Remember, you must carry original documents only -notarised documents will not be accepted.

Studying in Canada is a rewarding investment in your future with access to a premier education, exciting cross-cultural experiences, and a globally recognized degree.

Studying abroad can be expensive, but Canada offers the lowest tuition rates for foreign students compared to the other countries.

The Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWPP) allows students who have graduated from a participating Canadian post-secondary institution to gain valuable Canadian work experience.

Skilled Canadian work experience gained through the PGWPP helps graduates qualify for permanent residence in Canada through the Canadian Experience Class.

Provincial Nominee Program
Almost all of Canada’s provinces and territories can nominate people to immigrate to Canada. These people have the skills, education and work experience they need to contribute to the economy of that province or territory.

Education in New Zealand

Post graduate studies in New Zealand are similar to those that you would see in Australia and other similar countries. They all fall under the British educational system of higher education, and they are recognized as equivalent to getting a Master’s or Doctorate degree in the United Kingdom. Many of the universities in New Zealand are driven by research, which makes them some of the best out there.

In the past I have shied away from opportunity and avoided striving towards new achievements. Which all amounted to its own kind of nothingness.

Why?

Because I am a self-confessed harsh self-critic and very simply, I don’t like to make mistakes.

My perfectionism is checking out.

The biggest mistake you can make is being afraid to make one.

Think of it like this, a mistake is just the outcome from an activity that doesn’t produce the desired results that we anticipated.

In some situations we can kick ourselves because reflection shows we could have avoided that mistake. Other circumstances are rightly unavoidable and are simply the associated negative outcomes from experimenting and taking a risk.

One of the most common reasons to hold people back is being afraid to act or move toward their dream because of a fear of failure.

Ask yourself: Are you making excuses, procrastinating, or waiting to act on your goals? Perhaps a key part of your fundamental fear is worrying that you’ll make a mistake.

There are no mistakes, there are lessons.

Remember that mistakes are proof that you’re trying, and that without mistakes you miss the opportunity to learn and grow.

So before you take the next step, remember to enjoy the journey – trials and tribulations included.
