The Informed Indians

The Informed Indians UNBIASED INDEPENDENT OPINIONS/INFORMATION THAT YOU CAN TRUST. When we were kids we all had a thirst for knowledge and for understanding the things around us.

It takes a while of thought to come to the conclusion that too much is going on around us and is beyond our comprehension. How could it be possible for an office-goer or for an enrolled student or a home-maker to take out time to read and understand every thing that takes place everyday and to also read between the lines to know what is not being told or talked about? In the process of growing up

and getting education, somewhere we have let ourselves to be conditioned into believing that what the government does and what the corporates do and what happens to those artists and NGO people who are extradited and prevented from entering our land and why those activists are on protest are things that don’t matter to us. Somewhere we have told ourselves that our responsibilities are limited to our jobs and homes. Somewhere we have also given up on trying to understand as we are overwhelmed with the grandeur of the scale at which things are changing or happening. We have found comfort and bliss in ignorance, but that shatters when we realise that the air we breath and the water we drink is causing cancer to us and our loved ones, when we travel on roads that are un-metalled, when we fear to speak our minds, when we suggest our daughters to be ‘cautious’, when we go to a police station or a government office, and at other innumerable instances where we realise that we, as the people of India, have been making a grand mistake in being silent about how we are governed. Even in this realisation – that ‘good governance’ is not one of the grand fundamentals rights that are so talked about and remains a struggle that we have to fight for, there is a feeling of helplessness. What can I do? How will my knowledge about it change anything? Well, your knowledge is the beginning of a revolution – the revolution to bring about an informed society. A society where people know their rights, demand better policies from the government, defend their freedom, and fight for the future of their children and themselves. When you become an Informed Indian, you change yourself, you change the society and you change India. When you inform yourself about the minute aspects, when you learn the things that were never talked about in the media or on the television, when you understand what the government-market nexus is doing to your life, you will understand the power of knowledge, you would want people to know, and you will become restless to exercise your democratic rights. The Informed Indians – is an effort to source contributions from our authors who have read enough to write an informed unbiased opinion on the subjects that matter to you. We, at Informed Indians, try to cover as wide a field of knowledge as is possible for us without going into the depths of specialised knowledge that may become mundane or obsolete for the generalist reader. The objective of Informed Indians is to bring to our readers a subjective, partly-academic and partly-practical analysis of the phenomenons that are taking place everyday. We are not a news agency to hurry and be the first to post. We are – ‘The Informed Indians’, we read, we absorb, we churn, we debate, we analyse, we compare, we investigate, we question, and when we conclude – we post! The Informed Indians is an effort to create an informed society in India where people are not just aware but also have an informed analytical opinion about issues and subjects that matter. The most important part of this campaign, this mission, this endeavour, is to make people read and follow the posts of this blog. We are highly thankful to you for reading about our idea and for following our blog and being an Informed Indian yourself. We request you to be our brand ambassador and make as many people read these posts as possible so that we keep moving towards the ultimate objective of achieving an informed society. If there are subjects or issues you want us to include on our blog, make a request. We will make our best efforts to churn the best brain on the subject and post on the issue as soon as possible. If you want to contribute a post, tell us and we will get back to you.

News 1: A research done by University of Chicago tells that Delhi people could live for average 8 more years if the air quality was to comply with WHO norms.

News 2: SC allows conditional sale of fire crackers for Diwali 2017 (Condition 1: No. of licenses to be issued will be half of previous year. Condition 2: No import of fire crackers from other states is allowed. Condition 3: Delhi Govt to submit plan of awareness camps in schools within 15 days).

Implication 1: Awareness and sensitization takes time, it will take more so in Delhi. So crackers would burst.

Implication 2: Porus borders, more profits to lesser no. of shops, bogus stickers of 'manufactured in Delhi', would help Delhi celebrate diwali the usual 'oh, bull, please come and kill me' way.

Implication 3: Every Delhite, whether or not involved in bursting crackers, would lose some unquantifiable time of life. Multiplied with the multitude of people who live here, it would not be less than a few hundred lifetimes. So the impact of this order would be as if the court ordered a few hundred people to be killed.

So much for the assumption in law that the order of court does no undue harm upon anyone.

It was just about two months ago that the Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the London House where Ambedkar had lived as a student. The said house was bought for Rs. 40 Crores. Ambedkar was not a man to believe in tokens. He was an iconoclast and his nostalgic memories of that house would be the last things on his mind even in heaven when he, even after more than 65 years of the working of the Constitution, continues to see backward people of India being forced to live as 'dalits'. Chintan Chandrachud brings forth the logical in-cohesiveness in the argument of the SC in NJAC Case that primacy of judiciary is inherent to independence of judiciary and hence part of basic structure.

On Friday (October 16), a five-judge bench of the Supreme Court decided amongst the most significant constitutional cases in recent history — one that had prompted a moratorium on judicial appointments to the Supreme C
