A phrase in a contract that means that performance by one party at or within the period specified in the contract is necessary to enable that party to require performance by the other party.
Failure to act within the time required constitutes a breach of the contract. The general rule is that time is not of the essence unless the contract expressly so provides. As a result, with respect to real estate transactions, the modern view is that time is not of the essence unless the parties have manifested such an intent. The same is generally true in construction contracts and in contracts relating to the manufacture of goods. When time is not of the essence, courts generally permit parties to perform their obligations within a reasonable time.

BCCI is the world’s richest cricket board even after earning 3720crore rupees, BCCI is a tax-free institution as it is a charitable institution.
ITAT has said that BCCI will continue to be exempted from tax as
the tax exemption cannot be revoked only because BCCI earns a huge amount of profit from IPL because as long as the object of promoting cricket is remaining intact, the society is entitled to retain its exemption registration under section 12A of the income tax act.
The ITAT ruled that even though IPL may be more profitable, BCCI is entitled to tax exemptions as long as the primary objective of BCCI to promote cricket remains intact.
AS LONG AS THE IPL PROFITS ARE USED FOR THE BCC'S OBJECTIVE OF PROMOTING CRICKET, IT IS ENTITLED TO CLAIM EXEMPTION

Since both hate and free speech deal with the expressing of thoughts and sentiments, some individuals conflate the two. In terms of their distinctions, free speech is also known as freedom of expression, whereas hate speech is directed at a specific person or group of people. Currently, the anti-hate speech law is a challenge because of its conflict with Article 19. In practise, the law acts as a buffer between regulation and limitation, drawing a narrow line between the two.

The Madras High Court has issued guidelines to be incorporated in the new regulations to be framed under the National Medical Council Act, 2019, to efficiently deal with complaints against doctors. Justice R Mahadevan issued the guidelines while quashing an order of the Tamil Nadu Medical Council deregistering Dr P Basumani for six months over misconduct and falling short of integrity.
The council should protect doctors facing frivolous complaints even when it is acting against erring doctors, said the judge, adding that once the general duties and responsibilities of medical practitioners are enumerated, the doctors violating them can be subjected to disciplinary action for misconduct.
