Allahabad HC Bar Raises Concerns Over Plan to Open High Courts on Two Saturdays, Seeks Collective Stand from Bar Bodies Nationwide

Prayagraj, Feb 8: The Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA) has expressed concern over a proposal to keep high courts open on two Saturdays every month and has written to bar associations across India seeking a collective response on the issue.

In its communication, the HCBA highlighted the possible impact of additional working days on lawyers, judges, and court staff, noting that increased court hours may not necessarily lead to a reduction in case backlog.

The association cautioned that while the proposal may appear beneficial at first glance, it could ultimately affect the quality of justice delivered.

The HCBA has urged bar bodies nationwide to deliberate on the matter and adopt a coordinated stand.

Yadav said that in Bihar, many wrongfully excluded voters had to include their names as new voters on the rolls by filing Form 6 applications.
