Theresa May is expected to abandon a pledge to withdraw the UK from the European Convention on Human Rights, meaning that Britain will be bound by European human rights laws for another five years. The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry has warned that the world's biggest drug companies will abandon Britain unless an extra £20 billion a year is spent on the NHS. ABPI president Lisa Anson said that the financial squeeze on the NHS threatened the whole of Britain's £30 billion life sciences sector.
