🕊️ Tribute to Fauja Singh – The Turbaned Tornado 🏃♂️
Today, we bid farewell to a true legend.
Fauja Singh (Punjabi: ਫੌਜਾ ਸਿੰਘ), the world’s oldest marathon runner, passed away on 14 July 2025, leaving behind a legacy that transcends age, borders, and boundaries. A British Sikh who began his running journey at the age when most people slow down, Fauja Ji inspired generations with every stride he took.
In 2003, at the alleged age of 92, he completed the Toronto Waterfront Marathon in 5 hours 40 minutes — a feat that stunned the world. That same year, he recorded a 6 hour 2 minute finish at the London Marathon, setting benchmarks in the 90+ age category — even if official record books couldn’t keep pace with his greatness.
But Fauja Singh was more than just his timings. He was a symbol of resilience, humility, and the unbreakable human spirit. With his white flowing beard and trademark turban, he carried not just the pride of Punjab, but the hopes of everyone who believed that it's never too late to chase a dream.
💬 “I do not consider myself to be old. From the moment I do, I would lose everything, because age is a state of mind, as much as of the body.” – Fauja Singh
You ran your race with grace, Fauja Ji. 🕯️
May your soul find eternal peace, and may your story continue to inspire runners, dreamers, and believers across the globe. 🌍
