Career and Counselling Cell of Government Law College, Kozhikode(GLCKCCC) has, for the first time in the history of any Government Law Colleges in Kerala and perhaps of any other legal education institution in India, conducted a week long induction programme for first year students of 5 year integrated double degree BBA LLB(Hons) course in Government Law College, Kozhikode from 14-18 November 2011.
The aim of the programme was to give the students who are joining the law college a birds eye view about various dimensions of law and the career opportunities for the law students and to acquaint them with the systems and procedures of the college, as also to give them an idea about anti ragging laws. The idea of such a programme came from the thought that one of the reason for the disorientation of law students is sheer ignorance about their opportunities and the direction they have to move so as to become successful as a lawyer. In the absence of such a structured programme, the students could be (mis)guided by the (sometimes) casual approach of their seniors towards studies, and most often by the deliberate mis information given by the seniors about the course and the approach to studies. The programme aimed to give a proper orientation to the new students about the course, about law and about the future prospects as well as the methodology of learning to be adopted to be successful in life.
The speakers included a mix of internal and external resources. Hon’ble District and Session Judge, Kozhikode, Shri P Ubaid, Superintendent of Police, Crime Branch Shri C M Pradeep Kumar, Advocates Shri Shyam Padman & Shri V P Radhakrishnan, Clinical & Educational Psychologist Dr Balakrishnan Nambiar, were among the guest speakers.
