The Government of West Bengal is having the unique concept of inducting "Civic Police Volunteers" to assist the police into formal law & order system. The post of Civic Police Volunteers is not statutory or civil. The Civic Police Volunteers are appointed to act as a two-way bridge between the public and police but nowadays Civil Police Volunteers are misusing the powers delegated to them and treating the public in the worst manner.
In terms of that, I have filed a Right to Information (RTI) before the 'Inspector General of Police' West Bengal Police Directorate, with the following queries.
The RTI application & reply by the authority is attached hereiwth, pls go through it.
