A note on NOMOS
Every institution or organisation is constituted to achieve certain objectives of its own. ‘NOMOS’, a law Partnership firm, has also been constituted to achieve certain objectives having a definite bearing upon the legal profession and the legal ethics. To render legal advice/guidance, as well as representational services (pleading/advocacy) in courts and tribunals to manufacturers
of goods, service providers, importers/exporters of goods, traders, in connection with their tax/duty liabilities, procedural requirements and any dispute relating to taxability/ dutiability of goods and services, including their alleged penal liabilities in indirect taxation, including Customs, Central Excise, Service Tax and Value Added Taxes. Those apart, to render legal assistance in disputes relating to IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) laws, Prevention of Money Laundering Act, Anti-dumping duties, and Goods & Service Tax (GST) [which is likely to be introduced shortly], and other related subjects. To have conference with clients in regard to above matters/disputes, as and when required. To assist/guide clients with proper information/advice from time to time on long term or short term basis in matters related to taxation laws and other related laws. To assist Central Government/ State Government by way of rendering professional assistance, as and when solicited, and also training to officers at all levels whenever required. To represent cases of client before all judicial and quasi-judicial authorities that includes Supreme Court, High Courts, Appellate Tribunals, and adjudicating/appellate authorities in various government departments. To do all other lawful things as are incidental and conclusive to the attainment of above objects. NOMOS intends to achieve these objectives with immaculate professionalism, efficiency and expertise. NOMOS intends to earn the trust of its clientele by serving them with the best of knowledge as well as industry. It seeks to disseminate the most accurate and updated information to its clients to take them along the right legal path and it promises never to mis-inform or misguide them to ultimately leave them in the lurch, just to secure some material gains for itself on a short term basis. The real motto for NOMOS will always be to uphold the sprit of law, and NOMOS means the spirit of law. NOMOS intends to earn the trust of all litigants including the Government litigants by dint of its unwavering adherence to the spirit of law which involves invariably an honest, just and correct analysis and interpretation of law that does justice not only to the word but also to the spirit of law. Therefore, the features that are expected to unmistakably distinguish NOMOS from many other institutions of its kind will be its fastidious pursuit of legal knowledge so as to advise its clientele correctly and honestly, its principled, uncompromising stand on guiding its clientele to basically help them comply with the law in an appropriate manner while at the same time assisting them with a missionary zeal in their fight against any injustice or illegal excess done to them, and its noble intentions to help the law enforcing agencies also implement the law and deliver justice in a more transparent and effective manner, by presenting before them an honest and correct interpretation of the relevant legal provisions that may lead both to compliance of law and avoidance of miscarriage of justice.
