🚨 Major Compliance Relief for Directors – DIR-3 KYC Updated
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has introduced a significant reform in the DIR-3 KYC framework, effective from 31st March 2026, bringing much-needed ease in compliance for directors.
🔹 What has changed?
✔️ DIR-3 KYC filing is now required once every 3 financial years (instead of annually)
✔️ Single unified web-based form introduced
✔️ Mandatory update within 30 days in case of change in mobile, email, or address
🔹 Earlier Challenge
Annual filing—even without any change—often led to:
▪️ DIN deactivation
▪️ ₹5,000 penalty for delayed compliance
▪️ Practical hurdles in corporate filings
🔹 Key Benefits
✅ Reduced compliance burden
✅ Lower risk of penalties
✅ Cost and time efficiency
✅ Focus on real-time, event-based updates
📌 Practical Insight:
This marks a clear shift from routine compliance to a risk-based, event-driven framework, aligning with Ease of Doing Business initiatives.
This reform is a welcome step that balances regulatory oversight with practical efficiency. Professionals must now move from calendar-based tracking to trigger-based compliance systems.
