AVOID VOICE NOTES AS MUCH AS YOU CAN.
Now let me speak as a lawyer.
In law, evidence is everything.
Under the Evidence Act 2011, what you say, what you record, and what you send can be used as evidence.
Yes. That voice note.
That 3-minute angry voice note. That “I was just joking” voice note.
That midnight insult voice note. It can enter court.
Electronic messages, including voice notes, are admissible in evidence if properly tendered.
You may send it in anger. You may regret it in the morning.
But the law does not delete emotions because you have calmed down.
I have seen marriages shaking because of:
1. Voice notes used in divorce proceedings.
2. Voice notes used to prove threats.
3. Voice notes used to prove admission.
In law, once you speak and it is recorded, it can become Exhibit A.
So before you press that microphone button, ask yourself, “If this is played in open court, will I be proud?”
Communication is sweet. But discipline is sweeter.
