MBT Delegation Meets Telangana Wakf Board Chairman Over Bargah-e-Moula Ali Employees, Moharrum Funds & Shrine Security :
A delegation led by Amjed Ullah Khan, Spokesman MBT, today met Sri Azmath Ullah Hussaini, Chairman Telangana State Wakf Board, and submitted a memorandum highlighting several long-pending issues concerning Bargah-e-Moula Ali and its eleven employees.
Mr Khan brought to the notice of the Chairman that eleven employees of Bargah-e-Moula Ali were promised 100 square yard plots each on lease for construction of houses during 2017-18 by the then Wakf Board Chairman and CEO in the presence of late Zaheer Ahmed Khan, Mutawalli of Bargah-e-Moula Ali. However, till date neither the land has been identified nor the plots allotted. Surprisingly, since 2018 an amount of Rs. 500 is being deducted every month from the salaries of these employees despite no progress in the allotment process.
After hearing the matter patiently, Sri Azmath Ullah Hussaini clarified that the previous Wakf Board had indeed passed a resolution regarding allotment of plots to the eleven employees. However, the resolution mentioned that it should be implemented jointly with the Mutawalli. Following the demise of late Zaheer Ahmed Khan, disputes within the Mutawalli family prevented the appointment of a full-fledged Mutawalli, due to which the resolution could not be implemented. The Chairman, however, assured the delegation that after obtaining legal opinion, he would make sincere efforts to ensure that the deserving employees receive the plots on lease after Eid-ul-Adha.
The second issue raised by Mr Khan concerned the meagre salaries being paid to the eleven employees, many of whom belong to families that have been serving Bargah-e-Moula Ali since the time of their grandfathers and fathers. Mr Khan pointed out that despite their long service, each employee is presently receiving only Rs. 1800 per month. He said that even a daily wage labourer earns between Rs. 1000 to Rs. 1500 per day, making it impossible for these employees to survive on such a small salary. He requested the Chairman to ensure that the employees are paid salaries on par with the remuneration being given by the Wakf Board to Imams and Mouzans.
Responding to the demand, the Chairman Telangana State Wakf Board stated that the present Board is seriously considering enhancement of salaries of these employees. While he did not commit to a specific amount, he assured the delegation that he would try to convince the Board to increase the salaries as much as possible.
Mr Khan also raised the issue of annual Moharrum funds for Bargah-e-Moula Ali. He pointed out that despite Bargah-e-Moula Ali being one of the largest and most famous religious places, it had been deprived of Moharrum funds from the Telangana Wakf Board for many years. He recalled that during Moharrum-2025, after he personally raised the issue with the Chairman, Bargah-e-Moula Ali received Moharrum funds for the first time in history. Mr Khan requested that the fund should not only continue but also be enhanced this year. The Chairman assured the delegation that Moharrum funds would be sanctioned again and efforts would be made to increase the amount.
The final and most important issue raised by Mr Khan concerned the sanctity and security of Bargah-e-Moula Ali. He stated that the shrine is a sacred place visited by Zayareens from across the world, but recently several videos have surfaced on social media showing anti-social elements climbing rocks in the area, consuming alcohol and misusing the premises. Mr Khan said that social activist Hyder Hashmi had also posted several such videos on social media and convened a meeting of Shia religious scholars, social activists and officials of Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate regarding the issue.
Mr Khan requested the Chairman Telangana State Wakf Board to immediately write to Smt B. Sumathi IPS, Commissioner of Police, Malkajgiri Commissionerate, seeking establishment of a permanent police outpost at Bargah-e-Moula Ali and installation of CCTV cameras to monitor all activities and maintain the sanctity of the shrine.
Sri Azmath Ullah Hussaini assured the delegation that the Wakf Board would immediately take up the matter with the police authorities for establishment of a permanent police outpost and installation of CCTV cameras at Bargah-e-Moula Ali.
Syed Imdad Hussain (MBT), Shakeel Cricketer (MBT), Mir Ashraf Ali Razvi (Supritendent, Bargah-e-Moula Ali), Shoukat Ali Syed, Meer Amjad Ali, Hyder Ali, Hussain Ali, Hassan Ali, Zaker Hussain, Mir Shoukat Ali all employees were present during this meeting.
