SEBI, has recently amended the existing framework for fundraising via the issuance of debt securities by large corporates (LCs) in an attempt to incentivize them.

There is a stark contrast in the amended provisions when compared to the penal provisions found in the current framework.

SEBI had initially established the framework of Social Venture Fund (“SVF”) to uplift and enhance investments by stakeholders on various social ventures. Amongst other things, the regime was known to provide stringent requirements (such as meeting minimum investment quantum slab).

In order to combat the difficulties and to provide certain relaxation on the requirements and compliances , SEBI had, pursuant to SEBI (Alternative Investment Funds) (Third Amendment) Regulations, 2022, introduced Social Stock Exchange framework along with Social Impact Fund (“SIF”) framework.

Indian Succession Act, 1925 regulates succession vide Wills and Probate. However, the applicability of the same is restricted to only those Wills which are related to property situated in specific States' jurisdiction as mentioned under Section 57 of the Act. Indian Succession Act does not provide for succession in other States' as there are personal laws that already provides for succession in such States'.
