Tribunals were established to get the rid of obstacles caused by delay in justice administration. In other words, main objective behind the formation of Tribunals was to deliver speedier, cheaper and more accessible justice. But, at present, not a single Tribunal is functioning properly in accordance with their objectives. On the contrary, Litigants are suffering and facing much delayed proceedings due to lack of infrastructure and vacant posts of presiding members of the Tribunals.

Recently in March 2022, Hon’ble Supreme Court of India warned that Goverment that all the Tribunal Proceedings would be stayed unless Govt wakes up and makes appointments. But, despite the warnings of the Hon’ble Apex Court, Govt is in deep slumber.

Non- functioning of the Tribunals has affected the profession of advocacy also to a larger extent. Therefore, the Bar Council of India must raise the issue and urge the Govt to fill up the vacancy posts lying in the various Tribunals.
