Reliance Industries announced that its Rs 24,713-crore deal to acquire Future Group's assets cannot be implemented now. Future Group entities including Future Retail, Future Enterprises, Future Market Networks, and Future Consumer mentioned that the proposal by Reliance cannot be implemented as the secured voters have voted against it. However, some 947 small and large format stores of Future retail were provided by Reliance Industries on lease to the Future Group. Future retail failed to make the lease payments and Reliance took over the stores, over which it is likely to have control despite the falling off of the reliance-future deal. Reliance Industries stock fell 2.31% today to close at Rs 2695. Future group stocks also closed the day in the red - future retail was down 4.95% while future enterprises fell 9.52%.

Speaking at the annual lecture of the Public Affairs Forum of India (PAFI), Minister of State for Electronics and Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar on April 26 said that India’s tax revenues have exceeded target by 20 percent. “In past 35 years, I have had highs of optimism and lows of skepticism and negativity, and I can safely testify that India's potential has never been more exciting. We are in a situation where tax revenues have exceeded target by 20 percent. GST collections are on all time high making India’s tax compliance grow at a very high rate,” he added.

More than 700 are pending, but despite the seemingly high odds, the central board of direct taxes (CBDT) hopes to clear a record number of these agreements, called advance pricing agreements (APAs), in 2022-23. A total of 62 APAs were signed and cleared in 2021-22 and 31 in 2020-21. Of the 62 APAs in FY22, around 30 were signed in March alone. A government official said site visits could not take place due to the covid-19 restrictions, which led to cases piling up. “The APA cases have piled up and could be close to 700 odd cases. We lost close to six months last year due to covid-19 restrictions. However, the process has picked pace. We could see a record number of APAs get signed this year. The last high was 88 cases in 2016-17," said the official.

ICICI Bank reported a 58% year-on-year increase in its March quarter consolidated net profit to R$ 7,719
crore. On a standalone basis, the bank posted a 59% jump to Rs 7,019 crore for the quarter as compared to R
4,403 crore in the year-ago period.Net interest income rose by 21% year on year to Rs 12,604.6 crore for the
quarter. The bank has declared a dividend of R$ 5 a share.
