A landmark observation from the Madras High Court!

While dissolving a marriage between a doctor couple, the Division Bench made powerful statements about the toll traditional roles take on modern marriages, particularly for working professionals.

Recognizing that a wife's abilities often become "blunt" while she supports her husband's sharpening skills, the court called for the recognition of the economic value of homemaking and urged society to embrace "house husbands" as a remedy to declining marriage rates among career women.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez have reportedly signed a prenuptial agreement, blending romance with practical financial planning.

Signed in Lisbon last month, the pact ensures a strict "separation of assets" while securing a rock-solid future for Georgina and their family.

Key details of the billionaire prenup:

✅ Asset Separation: Both retain independent ownership of wealth registered in their own names.

✅ Lifelong Support: Georgina is guaranteed ~€100,000 ($117,000) per month if they ever separate.

✅ Prime Real Estate: She would take full ownership of the family’s €5.8M ($6.8M) La Finca mansion in Madrid.

Originally drafted after the birth of their daughter, the prenup protects Ronaldo's billion-dollar global empire while legally acknowledging Georgina’s independent standing as a business owner and influencer.

Retd. Supreme Court Justice Jasti Chelameswar recently shared a pivotal perspective on prenuptial agreements, noting that a prenup is not inconsistent with India's public policy.

“Even in England, marriage was considered sacred, and this question lingered for quite some time," he said.

Just as legal systems abroad evolved alongside sacred traditions of marriage, India's conversation around financial clarity and legal protection is moving forward.

Hosted by the Ladies’ Wing of the IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the discussion highlighted a growing push toward the recognition, regulation, and enforcement of prenuptial agreements in India.

Bollywood actor Celina Jaitly is bravely speaking out about her ongoing divorce from Austrian entrepreneur Peter Haag, and she has one major piece of advice for women: Get a prenup.

In a recent interview, Celina shared the gut-wrenching details of her separation, revealing that she was served divorce papers right before her 15th wedding anniversary — and her young twin sons were the ones who had to read and translate the German documents for her.

Despite asking only for her own assets back and joint custody, she claims she was threatened with losing access to her children unless she got a job in Austria, with her ex's legal team allegedly suggesting she work as a supermarket cleaner.

Her story is a sobering reminder that while marriages start with love and promises, they can unfortunately end in bitter disputes over property and wealth.

"I would recommend girls, please do a prenup if you have assets of your own," Celina stated.

A prenuptial agreement isn't about planning for failure; it's about financial independence and ensuring stability for yourself and your children, no matter what the future holds.

Dear Entrepreneurs,

Building a business in India takes endless hustle, late nights, and massive sacrifice. But getting married without a financial agreement in place puts your equity, your intellectual property, and even your co-founders at major risk.

A prenup doesn’t mean you are predicting a divorce—it means you are operating like a responsible entrepreneur. 💼

If you are an Indian founder, business owner, or solopreneur getting married, your prenup MUST include these 3 things to actually protect your life's work:
1️⃣ A Baseline Valuation: You need a rock-solid valuation of your company before you say "I do."
2️⃣ 100% Financial Transparency: Under the Indian Contract Act, inadequate disclosure of assets or debts may undermine the whole agreement.
3️⃣ Future Growth Clauses: You must specifically protect the value your business gains and the earnings you reinvest after marriage.

Protect your investors. Protect your team. Protect your peace of mind.

Can you use AI to draft your prenup? 🤖

Technically, yes. Practically and legally? You should think twice. Relying on an AI-generated prenuptial agreement — especially in India — is a massive legal risk.

Here's why you should avoid AI for your prenup:

⚖️ Ignorance of Indian Law: AI relies heavily on foreign templates. Indian courts require specific fairness and public policy standards that AI simply misses.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Zero Cultural Context: AI cannot account for joint family structures, complex inheritance laws, the Dowry Prohibition Act or the Domestic Violence Act.

🚩 Unenforceable Clauses: AI often generates blanket waivers and provisions that Indian courts will immediately reject.

🔓 Loss of Privacy: Inputting sensitive financial data into an AI platform means you have zero attorney-client privilege. Your personal data and financial info can be sold to the highest bidder.

🤷‍♂️ No Accountability: If the agreement fails in court years from now, the AI cannot defend you. You bear 100% of the risk.

The Bottom Line: AI is fine for basic research, but protecting your financial future requires a qualified legal expert who understands your specific jurisdiction.

In a significant move for personal autonomy, the Kerala High Court has clarified the limits of a Family Court’s power in mutual consent divorces.

The ruling in A v. B (2026) makes it clear: if a couple has completed the waiting period and both parties still want to part ways, the court shouldn't be playing detective regarding why they chose to separate.

Key Takeaways:
✅ Consent is King: If consent isn't withdrawn, the court must respect the decision.
✅ No "Reason" Needed: You don’t need a "valid enough" reason for separation if the decision to end the marriage is mutual.
✅ Verification, Not Judgment: The court’s role is to verify the facts, not to judge the lifestyle choices of the couple.

This judgment is a breath of fresh air for those navigating the legal system, ensuring that "mutual consent" actually means what it says.

🚨 Legal Update: When technicalities don’t get you out of alimony!⚖️:

A recent Delhi High Court ruling serves as a major wake-up call regarding family law and maintenance. The Delhi High court ruled that a man must pay monthly maintenance to his second wife—even if she never officially divorced her first husband!
Why? Because the second husband knew about her past when they tied the knot.

The wife argued that her first husband vanished just one month into their marriage and had been missing for 12 years. Under the law, this raised a "presumption of death." Her new husband was fully aware of this history, she never got a formal legal divorce.

The court emphasized that Section 125 of the CrPC is a social justice measure meant to prevent destitution. You cannot marry someone knowing their exact situation, and then later weaponize their lack of a divorce certificate just to dodge paying alimony.

What are your thoughts on this ruling? Fair or unfair? Let us know in the comments! 👇
