The allegations of advocates being assaulted inside Attapur Police Station are deeply concerning and cannot simply be ignored.

An advocate appearing at a police station is there in the discharge of professional duties to represent a client, protect legal rights and ensure that due process is followed. Disagreement between an advocate and the police, if any, can and must be addressed through lawful and professional means. Violence or intimidation can never be the answer.

I strongly condemn the alleged assault and stand in solidarity with the advocates involved. At the same time, the facts of the incident must be properly investigated and responsibility must be fixed based on evidence and due process.

The legal fraternity deserves a safe environment to discharge its professional responsibilities. Respect for advocates is not about giving anyone special treatment; it is about respecting the role of the Bar in the administration of justice.

This is not about one advocate. This is about the dignity and safety of the entire legal profession.
