Another factor that adds strength to the Centre are its students from diverse age groups and background. The classes are held in the evening, which makes it convenient for its students to intern and gain practical expertise and knowledge in the field of law along with regular theoretical teaching in classes. The Centre provides a very healthy environment to its students to discuss various legal an
d contemporary issues and the teachers here are accessible to discuss course material, legal issues and career goals, thereby providing an opportunity to the students to an overall development and becoming innovative legal professionals and public leaders. The method of teaching is not restricted simply to the lecture method where students are merely passive recipients of information, but the discussion method of teaching is followed to achieve the goal of making students active participants in the learning process and to also ensure an in-depth study of law. Another remarkable feature of the Centre is that the Students' Union of the Centre is very active in taking up new initiatives and all the necessary issues concerning its students. We believe that learning does not end in the class rooms; windows have to be kept wide open to invite different perspectives and expertise from diverse sources. UpendraBaxi who was the first Professor-in-charge of LAW CENTRE -II, paved the way to make the Centre one of the premiere educational institutions imparting education in law. Presently, Dr. (Mrs.) Kiran Gupta is In-charge of Law Centre-II. Law Centre-II, a dynamic leader in the field of legal education, has produced many Judges, distinguished jurists, leading advocates, cabinet ministers and some of the best teachers in the country. Its alumni include Justice B.D. Ahmed, Justice KailashGambhir, Justice S.N. Dhingra, Justice Rajiv Shakdhar, Justice V.K. Rao, SEBI Chairman Mr. Damodran, TDSAT Chairman Mr. Geha, Former Registrar of the University of Delhi, Mrs. Alka Sharma, among many more legal luminaries. We are currently in the process of registering our Alumni Association, to make the experience and suggestions of our distinguished alumni available to our students. We look forward to strengthening this association and increasing the involvement of the alumni to develop a centre which would produce lawyers who can contribute positively in the field of law and judiciary.
