Recently, I have started receiving fraud mails, where cyber fraudsters are circulating fraudulent documents, like the one shown below, that appear to be official communications from government agencies such as the Intelligence Bureau, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and other law enforcement authorities. These fake documents are designed to intimidate and trick people into divulging personal information or making payments under the pretext of legal action against them.
Measurements need to be taken immediately:
Authenticity Check: please check the domain from where you have received this mail, if the domain name contains information like .hier-im-netz.de please do not respond or click on any links or make any payments. Instead, report it to the cybercrime department or your nearest police station.
Additionally, Official government communications will never demand immediate payments or responses via unofficial channels like emails or phone calls. Always verify the authenticity by directly contacting the agency mentioned using official contact information from their legitimate websites.
Protect Your Information: Do not share sensitive information like your bank details, passwords, or identity numbers in response to unsolicited communications.
Government/ Legal Process followed in India:
Government agencies follow a strict legal process before any action is taken against an individual. You will receive proper legal notices, and you will have the opportunity to respond through appropriate legal channels.
Red Flags: Be cautious if you receive:
Emails or letters demanding immediate action within 24 hours.
Threats of arrest or prosecution unless a payment or personal information is provided.
Communications asking you to "respond immediately" without offering legitimate contact details.
