Since 1958, the Foundation has stood for freedom, democracy, rule of law, and respect for individual rights. Over the decades, these values have guided our work across regions, partnerships, and generations.

In an increasingly complex world, the importance of open dialogue, liberal thought, and international cooperation remains as relevant as ever. Our work continues with the conviction that free societies are built through informed conversations, civic engagement, and the courage to defend liberty.

Today, we proudly celebrate the Foundation Day of Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom. We thank our partners, colleagues, alumni, and friends who continue to contribute to this shared mission.

Some conversations simply feel different when people gather with openness, curiosity, and a shared language.

SAMSTAGSTREFF, hosted by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom India in collaboration with the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, is one of those special gatherings.

Held at The Connaught several times a year, the event brings together the German speaking community in New Delhi including Germans, Europeans, and Indians connected through language, culture, and professional exchange.

During our recent edition on 9 May 2026, we were delighted to hear from:
• Oliver Mirza, senior business leader and Managing Director of Dr. Oetker India
• Ulrike Ebeling, Country Director of GIZ India

The FNF India delegation concluded their Europe Tour 2026 in Stuttgart — and what a way to end it.

Stefan Schott presented key findings from FNF India's recent survey on India's geopolitical outlook and its vision for the world. He then joined a panel discussion on India–Europe relations, with the venue booked out and the audience deeply engaged throughout.

From Brussels to Stuttgart, the message was consistent — India and Europe have more reason than ever to understand each other, trust each other, and work together.

In Frankfurt, our delegation joined a deeply moving evening organised by Friedrich Naumann Foundation — honouring the 90th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama during the Year of Compassion.

The programme brought together friends and admirers of His Holiness, including Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, former Kalon Tripa of the Central Tibetan Administration; Prof. Dr. h.c. mult. Roland Koch, former Minister-President of Hesse and longstanding advocate of His Holiness; and Prof. Dr. h.c. Karl-Heinz Paqué, President of Liberal International. MP Sujeet Kumar also spoke, reflecting on India's enduring bond with His Holiness and the Tibetan community.

The FNF India delegation was in Hamburg for the Hamburg Trade Conference 2026 — joining policymakers, business leaders, and academics to discuss free trade, India's rise as a global power, and the future of EU–India partnership.

Stefan Schott presented FNF India's landmark survey findings, while MP Sujeet Kumar and Nupur Hasija joined a high-level panel on India's multi-alignment strategy and the shifting dynamics of global power.

The EU–India Free Trade Agreement, India's growing tech sector, and the question of trust between two great democracies were at the heart of the conversation.
